Another Q for the ladies… menopause

Has/did it affect you markedly in a sexual way?

Did you have any prior indication or idea of onset?

Can you share snippets of your own experience during the process?

Any Insights to offer re. after the transition?

Feel like this is an ‘unaddressed’ issue… more so for the highly sexual females amongst us all. It’s talked about a lot more nowadays for sure, but not so much on a sexual level

It hasn't affected me sexually - I still want & enjoy sex - but the weight gain/hot flushes/skin flare ups have meant a massive loss of confidence in meeting new people.

I've aged 10 years in the last 2 years. Menopause ids shite!

Although I lost my libido for about 4 years, it only came back a year ago.

Also rages/crying for no reasons really

Brain fog - I actually worried that I had early onset dementia it was so bad at times. Other than that, I've had no discernable symptoms

I've been peri for 4 years. Irregular periods are a nightmare for planning meets, and the physical and emotional symptoms of PMS are so extreme compared to how I used to be.

My sex drive hasn't been affected at all, which makes the above even more frustrating. I use oestrogen pessaries, but as I'm under 45 my GP won't entertain my request for progesterone.

I lost my sex drive in the latter stages of peri and into post menopause. It went for about 3yrs.

I was put on hrt but that didn't really solve the issue. But I had other issues with hrt, so it was changed earlier this year.

The combo is really working and it includes testosterone. The past 3 mths I've been rampant again.

I take black maca also.

I would go and see a menopause coach/nurse/doctor and see what your options are.

My last year of peri my sex drive had never been higher. Three years post menopause and a lot has changed. Mainly my figure which then affects my confidence. My libido fucked off to who knows where. Hrt has helped and I went private for testosterone as nhs clinic was over a year waiting list. Although it has helped I have physical issues to deal with thanks to the menopause.

Ladies, make sure you do pelvic floor exercises no matter your age.

One thing I would advise all women to do is use an appropriate moisturiser on their labia and perineum from any age really. Especially if you had an episiotomy.

The main problem I have had with menopause is the scar tissue from an episiotomy and a tear during childbirth and subsequent stitches has shrunk and become very painful at times. This can be very distressing.

Apart from that I have obviously aged but that's due to being older (who knew 😅) rather than menopause and I'm very happy to no longer worry about periods.

I use Double Base. I did have a prescription for it but I just buy it from Amazon now. I'm so over doctors

I’m 42 and keep being told I’m too young by my female Dr to be Perimenopause however my mum was in her late 30’s.

I have hot flushes to the point I have to sit naked in front of a fan, irregular periods that make it impossible to plan meets (thankfully the fella isn’t bothered and we still enjoy ourselves) I’ve not lost my sex drive at all in fact I think I want sex more than I used to.

I’ve asked the Drs to give me something to help with the periods as I was having them every two weeks for weeks! They put me on the coil and I’ve not stopped bleeding for a month. I’ve begged them to take everything out but they won’t.

I’m into my perimenopause journey.

My sex drive has gone totally. That said, I’m not sure if it’s gone or if it’s my anxiety medication that has dampened it down or whether I’m just fed up with finding a fella in general.

Got no inclination to date or whatnot either. Just can’t arsed with it all.

This may all change when I’m through it. Not bothered really.

My anxiety medication has worked wonders so I’m not coming off them just to get a shag.

Go private if you afford it. The Newson clinic is absolutely fab. They do zoom and telephone appointments if you live too far from their clinics. They definitely saved my sanity!

I highly recommend a moisturiser as well, not just for menopause but in general.

I like victory oil by naydaya. It's not grease, which is nice.

Oh yes menopause has alot to answer hot flushes and sweats can have to change 3/4 time day and night brain fog bad but im actually losing weight even with hrt lucky not gone off sex I have patches and tablets at moment also menopause is effecting another condition I have
