I'm looking at getting some new aftershave, I'm a savage man at the moment. As don't really go into shops anymore so can't try testers can anyone recommend somewhere that sends testers

Think OP means he’s used Sauvage by Dior I’d recommend some Mont Blanc fragrances great quality and competitive prices.

Sauvage is also my go to at the moment. They have released a new one though that they were trying to get me to buy the last time i bought suavage.

I think my next smelly though will be Acqua de parma, been highly recommended on these threads previously

I'm a big fan of Creed Aventus (expensive).

Paco Rabanne sits well on my skin.

I think aftershave/cologne is one of those things you do need to try before you buy, as it will react with your skin. There is one scent I love, but it smells like sour lemon on my skin - although I don't know if there is a difference between the EDT and EDP.

I think there are sites where you can order testers.

It's quite easy to find samples if you Google but you might have to pay. Department stores can be good for little samples, John Lewis etc. Penhaligon's do a brilliant sample pack with several included but you do have to pay for it.

If you're near one of their stores, popping in could be a shout - last time they gave me a cute silk handkerchief with the fragrance of my choice on it. And a couple of mini samples.

There are numerous popular brands that I've tried samples of and found them to be horrible on me.

I've noticed a lot of ads recently for pheromone colognes that are supposed to smell different on everyone who wears them by enhancing their own scent.

I've never tried them so can't comment on how true or effective they may be.

I've been into a couple of Penhaligon stores in london. I'm told they have an amazing range. The only problem I find is that the stores I have visited were a little too small and the smell was overpowering (like a Lush store turned up to 11), so I couldn't get a real sense of an individual scent.

Explain that and I'm certain they'll give you samples to take away so you can smell them at your own leisure.

They do have a brilliant range but scent is such a unique thing (this is to the OP), how it works with someone on a molecular level. I'd never recommend a particular fragrance but will say ones I like. That work for me/those I like smelling.

I already mentioned the individuality and reactive part on my previous reply. When I have been to the stores they have also tended to be busy, so I wouldn't hang around just to ask for a sample. I may try when it is quieter.

I also know of a couple of places around Covent Garden that you can design your own fragrance. It's not cheap but it is unique.

I met a guy recently who smelt absolutely bloody amazing. As in ‘damn you sexy bastard’ amazing. Imagine my surprise when he told me he was wearing…Old Spice.

Brand and prices mean nothing it’s all marketing.
