I know we have lots of people slag of the youth of today saying they are good for nothing but I must say of late they have amazed me.

The volunteers I work are all mostly under 22. They are amazing and are fab. They will help in the shop etc and are lovely and even had 2 dressed as mickey and Minnie Mouse last weekend in Exeter.

Do you think press have given them a bad name or as a better upbringing helped these youngsters?

the "youth of today" have always been criticised -

from the rock n rollers of the 50's, and then on through

the mods n rockers, beatniks, flower children, the skinheads, punk rockers, chavs, gangstas..etc etc

It always seems to me that the most get judged because of the few. Some of the youth of today will be lazy, good-for-nothings....but the majority will be good kids who will continue to be decent people. Mostly down to good parenting, although there will always be those who had bad parenting and survive and lead good lives and likewise there will be those who had good parenting but for some reason chose to follow a different path in life.

I work with volunteers from 17 up to 87 I think our oldest one is! At 87 she moves faster than alot and does more.

I have found myself thinking what do parents teach their kids when a 17/18 year old asks me how to make a cup of tea! Depending on my mood depends on my answer!!!!!!

But older volunteers can ask stupid questions too! I do find it that it is the younger olds tjat drive me insane more, but I just remember if I didn't have them there my life at work would be harder and less entertaining!

I work on a football project in a very rough area. It's to keep kids off the streets & out of trouble.

The crime stats prove that on Tuesdays & Thursdays when we deliver the sessions, that crime has reduced.

We have gangs & lads known to the police. Some of these lads are why youth has a bad name. Others through discipline have turned a corner.

I have to say, it's apparent that these kind of youths are not disciplined at home & that's why they get in to trouble.
