I want to discuss something, why is it so difficult to accept a good compliment from someone?

I doesn’t matter gender or sexuality! A good compliment, is a human act, a “thank you” is enough!

The problem is that we are only allowed to be modest and humble in our acceptance of compliments and we must on no account ever believe that we are attractive because of them. If we do we become 'up ourselves '

I literally just said to someone compliments are a turn off for me.

On here most of them are fake or based on only part of an image I have been happy to share. Its by no means a full picture therefore makes the compliment invalid. (There are exceptions but I don't see them often).

In person while the person giving the compliment may absolutely mean it, if i don't see it in myself then it makes me feel uneasy, as if I'm being lied to just to get what they want. I recognise that that is my issue and something I have been working on. I can now respond with thank you instead of some negative response. There is no winning for the other person.

Once I know someone and have got past the above then they can start to make me feel good but its a fine line inside my own head

I'm much better at accepting compliments, now that I'm older. In the real world, it's nice to be complimented by a stranger. I often do it myself and I've only ever had positive replies.

If we're talking about on here? Nah. Doesn't mean a thing. They don't know me and they can only see the body part I choose to show, photos of which have been carefully curated to look it's best. "Nice tits" is never going to entice me to thank them, let alone engage.

100% agree. A compliment is ment as a positive thing. A simple thank you is always appreciated. If that sparks further conversation then great. If not then atleast you know you made someone smile for said compliment.

I like compliments about things I've done. Choices I've made. Achievements and acts of service. I love compliments about those.

Compliments on my appearance, meh. I know how I look. Most of it is genetics and if the most interesting thing about me to someone is my body then we're not going to have anything to talk about.

Except occasionally, in the afterglow and aftermath, when I'm naked and messy and more human than the bimbo look I usually hang around in. I can sometimes take an aesthetic compliment from someone I adore and trust not to be bullshitting me. They've already got what they could want from me, so it removes a lot of that "and why are you saying this" response that my brain usually kicks into 💜
