Mini Moments of Happiness

Is there something really insignificant that brings you a disproportionate amount of happiness?

We're not talking obvious things like kids being cute or getting a reply on here 🙄, that's been done to death.

To give you an idea of the level we're aiming for here;

When both sides of our toaster pop up at exactly the same time, that makes me just a tiny bit happier than just eating toast does anyway.

I always try and get it a nice round number, it is a little game I play in my head

Yesterday walking from the supermarket back into town you cross two roads. Other people had already pressed the buttons and we managed to time it perfectly so that the lights changed and traffic stopped just as we got to both roads. We didn't even have to slow down, we just walked straight across it all. That was a mini moment of happiness

When I hit the cruise control button bang on the speed I wanted to be going at. (and come off the accelerator at exactly the right position before a speed change sign to be going at the new limit by the time I reach it)

When I'm playing a merge game with a full board and get exactly the thing I need to practically clear it with a single chain of merges.

When someone throws something to me and I catch it with one hand.

When I need to pour out a certain weight of ingredient and get it bang on the first time I put it on the scale.

When I go to the kitchen while microwaving something and get there just before the timer finishes.

Every time my car odometer reads an exact amount of thousands, or a number like 11111. Means nothing but I actually like to watch it tick over to that.

Hardly ever crash these days.

My wife and I play The Doggo Game. The only rule is that every time you see a dog, you call "Doggo!" and whoever saw it first gets a point. The winner is everyone, because we saw doggos. The points don't mean anything.

When you get in your car and it doesn't need fuel or charging for once, that to me is a winner, especially as I'm usually running late for most things 🤣🤣🤣

That is definitely something I love when that ever happens. One similar is when driving to a destination and all the light you go through are green! I managed that this morning. So happy

"At the petrol pump, getting a nice round number and not an additional penny!"

A skill that will soon be lost with electric cars.

If you go past £20.00, do you go on to £25.00 to get another chance or would £21.00 be okay?

Perfect! It would have been totally inconsequential if you'd had to stop, but that you didn't and noticed is peak mini moment ❤️

It’s really hard water here and the filter is the only way not to wreck your kettle!

Is your happiness-ometer biased to one side of the ingredients' weight? If I need 50g of butter and I cut off 48g first go then I'm shaving off tiny bits for the extra couple of grams, if it's 52g then I nailed it.

Oh, I've got loads...

Getting the first good day in spring and hanging washing out on the line

Seeing a dog

Seeing a cat. Even better if it wants to say hello

When pump No.4 is free at the petrol station

Shouty sparrows in the house gutter

Coming down to a clean kitchen in the morning because I wasn't lazy the night before

My cat's shaky tail when she knows she's about to get fed

The light changing to gold in August and knowing Autumn is coming

I'll stop now...
