….which hurts more? I have tattoos and don’t find it painful getting them at all. I’m tempted to start getting a Hollywood wax but the pain is putting me off! Also any tips?

Different people have different pain thresholds tbh

I have tattoos, lots, and find rhe pain unbearable to the point I have to use numbing cream lol

However I find waxing painful but bearable as it's a short term pain (like literally stops hurting a few seconds after they pull the strip off)

Best advise is to get hot wax as it hurts a little less and bite the bullet

Get one done, if its too painful don't get it done again x

Never had waxing done, but I used to get regular sugaring. I can safely say that first time hurts the most, but it gets better the more you go. And you are done within 15-20 minutes

Chocolate Wax is less painful than normal wax, a few others told me that before I tried it.

Tattoos don't hurt me at all I've fallen asleep far too many times getting them done 🤣🫣

I have both and don’t find either particularly painful. Give it a go OP, I bet you’d be fine.

Do you already have waxing done? If so, I personally don't find any part more/less painful.

As someone else said - it smarts for a moment, when the hair/wax is removed, but subsides very quickly.

Normally for me, the most painful bit (aside from paying ) is if the wax is a little too warm and my skin is extra sensitive. But it cools pretty quickly too *shrug*

I find both are pleasure pain for me. Take pain relief before hand (I take cocodamol and ibuprofen anyway for a medical condition and find this dulls the pain of holding awkward positions). I agree that hot wax is the best

I’m covered in tattoos but would never let anyone near me with a wax strip again. Make of that what you will.

I have two tattoos.. and have had a wax.. not a Hollywood though! The tattoos hurt more! But I guess it depends where you get them?!

Get the wax, you won’t regret it. First couple of time are uncomfortable, but it’s over quickly!

I don’t have tattoos so I can’t compare. I regularly get a Hollywood wax and they are fine usually. Painful but bearably. I had one today, however I went to a new person because my regular was booked up, well, my fanny looks like a part-baked roll. It’s so swollen and sore 😭 I don’t know if it’s the after lotion or the type of wax she used, but get yourself a patch test first.

Debs tried to wax my nuts once and I ended up in hospital for a week and nearly lost one of them

I like the waxing feel and I'm not typically someone who likes things that hurt so can't be that bad. I like the heat of the wax. Just don't have it too hot. I did once and got blisters. That was not pleasant.

Always needs to be hot wax for intimate waxing rather than strip wax. Of course the first time is painful, but you become desensitised the more you have it done.

Different pain to having a tattoo I think. The pain is almost momentary with waxing. Think ripping a plaster off quickly.

With a tattoo it's more constant as the excess ink is being wiped off the 'wound'. Maybe compare it to wiping blood off a cut that won't stop bleeding - but over a bigger area and persistently.

At the end of the day we all have different pain thresholds, and I'm sure that what I find fine will be intolerable to others. So the only way you'll know is to give it a go. But if you go for the tattoo, be absolutely sure as I'm told that treatment to remove is even more painful than getting it done in the first place!
