So, I'm on a journey to get fit and in tip top condition akin to my days in the forces.

Even though I'm dieting and reducing Alcohol intake, I've took up hula hooping. Not sure this is the best way to help with the battle of tiny bulge but worth a go.

Enjoy the hula hooping - sure it's fun.

But sadly you can't 'spot reduce' fat from any part of the body. Just need to be in a calorie deficit and keep training and you'll lose body fat overall, but sadly can't pick and choose where it goes from. Keep it up though, the exercise itself will be doing you good!

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

It's certainly harder for us after a certain age, but far from impossible.

Strength training, intermittent fasting, good sleep and 1k abs every morning has certainly helped me.

Good luck Op😁

Cheeseville, Somerset

Rowing machine?

Doesn't seem to be doing much for mine, but it's early days yet.

Plus I can't seem to ditch the late night cake/cheese binges. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️😂

Zone 2 training for fat burning. Often feels like a waste of time because you are not doing much but that burns fat

Only thing that worked for me was having no sugar, eating high protein very low carbs and doing weights. Though I was miserable as anything.

You cannot reduce fat in only one area mate can only lose fat overall, we lose fat in the reverse of how we put it on men generally store fat on the belly before anywhere else so when losing fat it will be the last place to go

Our body is expert at trying to preserve the status quo, so will resist attempts to change it. Obviously this is frustrating and we will reach a plateau, as intense fightback will be marshalled to maintain what we have

Changes at cellular levels will be engineered to stop while you are trying to do. But you need to carry on, to get to achieve your goals and then to create a new normal.

Keep switching things up and engineer a multifaceted approach that's comprehensive. Consult a fitness expert to support you. There are some PTs here who have offered free guidance in the forum.

Low carb water and high protein is the only thing that works for me. Plus I try to do 15-20k steps a day

For best method for me is educating myself about how the body stores energy and how and when it uses it for fuel. And also understanding the ingredients in processed food. So fasting and reducing the intake of cheap highly processed fuel is my methodology.

Good luck, anything you do towards a healthy lifestyle is going to be good for you. So, you are already on a winner.

I am the same Ex forces and wanting to turn my dad bod into something I remember when I was serving.

So I started last Christmas, mainly follow a slimming world approach to food. (Worked in past for me and lost 3 stone, just by what I was eating over a year) I don't want to feel I'm depriving myself or forcing drinks instead of meals. Main point is this a lifestyle change I WANT to keep doing.

The difference I done this time too, is hitting the gym.

Three times per week, just a simple set of floor exercises. (Similar to what the PTIs used to put us through) Followed by a 5k run on the treadmill.

Not really losing weight but definitely toning up. The beer belly is slowly getting flatter.

I have noticed that my metabolism has speeded up. I'm more regular and hungry more, always try to do three meals per day where I can. Beer only at weekends (in large amounts)

Its working for me, just need to REmember it takes commitment, effort and time.

Keep pushing and trying, you know you will get there buddy.

I'll get there, think I do need a clubswinger though to give me a rollicking to get fit. 😀

I've reduced my carbs hepl of a lot. It's the protein I struggle on. Eating lots more steak and chicken than I have ever done.
