I have few people that I'm close to in real life, those I trust. Everyone else isn't important.

On here, I trust guys i meet enough to know they won't slaughter me in the hotel room. That's as much as I'll ever trust any guy but it's all I need.

I try my best to trust people until they give me a reason not to. Then it's the end of the road.

Very recent I have been stung by someone I've known for many years and I didn't see it coming. But I refuse to allow their shitty behaviour to harden me. The people who have hurt me the most have been blood or those who I thought I was super close to and I know I'm not alone in that.

What does trust entail? Is it that you can rely on the person to be truthful or reliable or to have your best interests at heart (that might involve not being truthful), to have your back in times of trouble?

Are there degrees of trust? Eg you can trust them with your possessions but they're serial cheaters

For someone who generally has a pessimistic outlook (the glass not only is half empty, but it is cracked and someone has crapped in it), I actually am very trusting of people (and then find out that they are cunts).

Trust first, everyone starts at 100 but they need to work to keep it and its up to them to loose it.

Most on here will half it to 50 in 1 or 2 messages to be fair 🤣

But its important to us that we go into every encounter with a positive outlook prepared to trust.

I like this, because you're right, trust isn't straight forward. For me, it's a combination of what you sais. The most important ones for me, are the honesty part and that you'll always have my best interests at heart.

I understand this. Especially when one has been hurt badly. It's also good, I want to see their true nature quickly, so I can get rid of them.

I don't know if this will make a difference but remember, their behaviour speaks about them and not about you.

I am pretty liberal in trusting the people I feel I can trust (and my gut has usually proven a reliable compass as to that), and at the same time I expect betrayal and disappointment from anyone at anytime, with the exception of my close family.

There are degrees of trust.

There are lots of people I would trust to fix my car, service my boiler or pay their outstanding bills but I wouldn't be trusting those with anything beyond that.

There are others I wouldn't trust to fix my car or service my boiler but I would trust them with my life and my inner thoughts.

For me trust has to be earned over time and I'm very lucky to have friends I trust implicitly.

I have trusted people on fab that I believed to be my friends.

I supported them through difficult times and trusted them with my friendship only to have that used as currency with complete strangers they were trying to curry favour with so passing on my personal info was their way in.

It's why I've said before that I was never cynical before joining fab but I don't trust people to be decent human beings anymore until they have proven themselves to me.

For a man, it's the untrusting ones that ruin it for all men and then we all get put into the same bracket which is unfortunate for us but also very understanding. Just a shame and hope the bad men don't put others off the good ones
