Honestly I don’t get hung up on anyone’s profile bio.

It’s how they want to express themselves. Albeit blank, a few lines or a chapter or 2

If I don’t want to read it then I won’t

Depends what they write-

If it's an informative clear and precise statement of intent detailing their wants and needs, then that's cool .

But if it's the usual cut and paste nonsense about Sydney University with a bunch of excuses about why it's only the guy from

the couple that can meet and threats about bring blocked if you don't do this or that then yeah, they may as well not bother.

What do you define as a long profile write up? This is subjective, depending on whom you ask.

People can include as much info, humour, sarcasm etc as they wish.

I'm a fast reader, and anything that takes over a minute and a half to go through I'd consider excessive, but that's just my opinion.

Imagine a fab interviewee about to be interviewed for a job. .the interviewer asks … “Tell me a bit about yourself “ to which the fab persons replies …..

“ I would rather not because I want this job “

I’d far rather a profile was long than “Just ask” or “Fill in later”. More often than not, people who have taken the trouble to write about themselves and what they want will illicit first contact from me. Especially if it’s humorous.

The more info in their bio the easier it is to strike up a dialogue.

We have a fairly long one but we have sections for single guys and couples so you can skip the bit that’s not relevant for you

The hope is that it’ll lead to us getting more purposeful messages and it’ll lead people with more in common trying to meet us

And to give you a sense of us before we before you even get in touch with us

First the pictures and stats are a factor in willingness to read. Do I/we find them attractive and does the basic stats/into matrix workout?

A long bio is no a turn off per se. But too long can be counterproductive and loose our attention. We want a basic overview but not something that takes a real effort to read though. Unless it's particularly captivating. Generally we need to meet people in the real world to know if they're for us and no length of bio will tell us that.

I do enjoy reading the long ones. Especially cause at some point they contradict themselves.

The amount of times I've read a couple or female, saying "oooh I want a man who knows what he wants and takes it no questions asked"... Then a few paragraphs of the usual weirdly bitter diatribe later,"dont think you can control me or do whatever you like". Something along those lines anyway. Just tickles me.

Nope, I much prefer someone to have written a profile that tells me about them. That way I have something to go on.

Low effort profiles with one or 2 lines put me off, ie ask me or will fill in later.

Mine is long and it's a good filter.

It all depends on the content - if it is a tedious list of:

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES

NEVER

MUST HAVE

etc,

then I move on and they can stick their secret word hidden in paragraph 27 where they like.

Their profile, their rules, but whenever I have met people with profiles like that, they've been pretty dry in person, too.

However, if it is interesting and witty, then it can be an enjoyable read

I like to read and we enjoy good communication, so it much depends upon the content, I've read some brilliant ones, some ranty ones and some boring ones. We'd much rather read a long, detailed profile than a long intro message. K.

I love reading profiles, especially long detailed ones as it helps us work out if they’re worth messaging or not.

Ours is long and very detailed… if people can’t be bothered to read it, that’s fine… but I do hate it when they ask a question that is answered in our profile.

It’s certainly helped in cutting down messages reaching our inbox, and the ones that do, 90% of them match what we are looking for so win/win.

Quality over quantity.

You can have long profiles that say nothing or succinct ones that tell you all need to know.

Having said that if I start reading a profile clean shaven and have a stubble by the time I’m done it is a bit of a ‘no no’ for me.

Define long…

If somebody interests me, then of course I'm going to want to read the profile, to see if we have shared interests.

If it's blank / fill in later etc, I probably won't bother going further. If it reads like war and peace, I'll skim read. Anything in the middle is good for me.

Personally my profile is the length it takes to give the information I think is of importance and which saves me having to go over the same answers with everyone who messages me.
