Just been watching "Easy Rider" which is probably one of the best road movies ever made.

Great cast, soundtrack, scenery and cinematography.

Feel free to share your opinions on this cult classic as well as other great road trip movies.

It's one of those films that doesn't seem dated despite it being 55 years old. If they remade it though I'd cast Walton Goggings in jack Nicholsons role and Mathew maconnaghy in Dennis hoppers role.

I think Walton styled himself on Jack Nicholsons character in this.

Badlands - love Terrence Malik

It’s not a movie, but there was a wonderful series late night on C4 in the earlier 1990’s called Road Dreams.

Basically it was the 8mm films of a British guy’s travels around the US in the late 1960s, early 1970s.

It was bewitching and elegiac. It developed quite a cult following over the years and is on YT.

I absolutely love it

I'm little brother had a thing for convoy. The times I had to watch that with him. My uncle was a long distance lorry driver and had all that CB radio crap too.

In my opinion (moose) it's one of those films that should never be remade, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper made it what it is, the era was right, the cast was right besides if it was to be remade it would wouldn't work nowadays, they should leave the classics alone.

There's a noir called Detour which has some fortuitous plotting but a fabulous femme fatale. And at 68 minutes it's absolutely without padding.

Vanishing Point would be another road movie that has a cult following.

Also - again, this isn’t really a road movie - it’s a road movie condensed into eight minutes, I guess

C’etait un Rendezvous

Great short film, and one with still some mystery attached to it .

Should mention, you have to watch the full (UK) version of Vanishing Point. The Americans cut out Charlotte Ramplings bit which is a shame as it makes the ending make sense.

Two Lane Blacktop is a cult classic, and it has Warren Oates in it which is always a bonus.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert always makes me laugh.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles - no explanation needed.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is a good shout for those not allergic to subtitles, and it's sexy as fuck.

Belleville Rendezvous is a bit of ingenious French animation.

Fandango - an early Kevin Costner film about college graduates having one last adventure before becoming adults is a bit of a lost classic.

The Hitcher, for those who like a bit of horror and suspense.
