Got me in a tizz this morning. Can anyone explain why using the same address, drivers details, driving history etc I can insure my Aston Martin for WELL LESS than a new bloody pick up truck. Not sign written, pleasure use only, no business use etc. I've had quotes that are eye watering

A proper answer from someone who understands this nonsense would be appreciated

Solihull and Brentwood

Try Sheila's Wheels. Only insurance company I've ever used, that has never increased in the 3 years I've had it.

It's down to risk and value in the main. I guess they deem your pick up to be more at risk than your Aston Martin. 🤷‍♀️

The cheapest quote is admiral, which I think owns them anyhow, but thanks for the suggestion

Might be risk but it's not value. Pick up 65k. AM 300k.

As I understand it insurance companies calculate premiums based on previous statistics and who and what has cost them the most money. Hence a new driver is in the thousands while someone with a clean license, no claims and a medium value car that is difficult to steal is in the low hundreds. At a guess I'd say your type of pick up has been involved in more claims than your model of Aston Martin.

Makes sense. I suppose they sell more pick ups than sports cars.

Your pickup truck is likely far easier to shift if nicked than your Aston Martin.

Plus majority of pick up trucks are used by the trade, not driven carefully, left unlocked, tools on display etc.

Rubbish for shopping in. Not the thing for the winter. Hence the pick up truck. I think I'm a frustrated fall guy fan (for those old enough to remember)

Most of my friends think I'm now peri menopausal as I've gone slightly loopy. I need a step to get in it

A pick up is probably easier to nick than an AM
