Forgotten 80s films

Hey all.

Rubik's son loves to watch 80s films while he is here, his favourite being short circuit and we have shown him all the obvious ones but does anyone have any golden nuggets of 80s or even early 90s films? Not scary.

He also loved the green mile and Shawshank redemption (which I thought in all honesty, he would get bored with but didn't).

Much love x

Quite niche and underground as it wasn’t a blockbuster or anything- but I love, love, LOVED …

Stand and Deliver with Edward James Olmos and Lou Diamond Phillips. Film about Chicano (Mexican-American) teenagers in a very deprived high school in East Los Angeles who got extraordinary results in Advanced Calculus pre-University entry tests. Andy Garcia is in it too! Available on Amazon Prime video. A true gem.

Also … La Bamba with Lou Diamond Phillips too

Not sure about the current remake. Its alright but not a patch on the movie.

As for forgotten movies (or not as well remembered as other 80s movies cos man, what a movie era)..

Weird Science.

Enemy Mine.

The Last Star Fighter

Night of the Comet.

Swamp Thing and the Return of Swampthing.

The Ice Pirates

The Philadrlphia Experiment.

Shocker

I like sci fi..sue me.

Makes you wonder what happened.

We had so many amazing movies back then. Now ita a diet of recycled/ remade unoriginal woke franchised shite.

"Hey all.

Much love x"

The last seduction, that maybe 90's. If you haven't seen. Highly recommended. It's up there with the secretary. They're both incredibly erotic but fucking clever. Make you think.

Apart from the massive franchise films as a kid some other favourites were:

Ferris Beuller's Day Off

Short Circuit

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

War Games

The Fly

None forgotten but still worth a mention

The Fly really left a mark in me.

So awfully scary… wouldn’t recommend for a kid who gets scared but it’s a good film!

Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis are mega hot in it 🤤 😍

After reading all this list, October half term we definitely need to invest in netflix 😂. They are all on a list, going to go into a bowl and go through them all, getting picked at random, thank you all x

Oh yes didn't read the scary bit, that being said I liked it from a young age. Can't ever remember finding him hot though

Well I guess those, Star Wars, Back to the Future are far from forgotten since the first 2 are still releasing films and Back to the Future 4 is imminent.

Tonypandy.

Isn't it wonderful when some random person feels the needs to DM you to inform.you that he doesn't like some of the suggestions you made on the forum, and feels the need to suggest other films that are 'much better'

Wonder how many other people he felt the need to give his unsolicited opinions too.
