Reports that the Gregg's looter that stole a tray of sausage rolls got 4 and a half years in prison. We dont know if he had a hungry young family to feed. A man who stabbed his female partner has just been freed after 6 months.

My local shopkeeper who has shoplifting every day cannot get police to attend or review his CCTV. Is this equal justice ? Does the sentence fit the crime? It's all over the news

I am more than sure that the evidence from his socials & tech data convicted him

For Eg if his search engines had food banks & how to feed a family on the cheap his mitigation factors would have been jumped on.

On the other hand if that information was on causing bother rioting and disorder & my money goes on the latter then he can rot in prison for years as far as I can see

He stole my pastie

Problem with taking news from the tabloids is you only ever get a fraction of the story. The courts on the whole tend to be quite thorough in their sentencing, unless you're in the court and have access to all the bacground information you're only taking info that has been deliberately sensationalised. Remember the Hillsborough reporting by The Sun?

"Reports that the Gregg's looter that stole a tray of sausage rolls got 4 and a half years in prison."

Looted 4 stores, racially aggravated violence, destruction and damage of 10 whole vehicles, attacking policemen doing their job.

I think you may he understating what he was actually sentenced for with a frivolous nicked some sausage rolls there.

He was accused of fuelling violence and hate by handing out these savoury treats to rioters.
