FabSwingers.com forum: Is everyone really that much in debt?

Been a lot of private conversations about this this year, what with the economy, price of fuel, cyprus etc.

I *used* to be the *odd* one in the group. (group = any random group of people)

1/ no mortgage

2/ no overdraft (unused o/d facility)

3/ no credit card debt

4/ no store cards

5/ no HP for vehicles or anything else

6/ no outstanding bills

lately I am hearing lots of people, going without almost everything except food and shelter to eradicate all of these they can, in practical terms this means trying to get down to #1 only... whereas before these same people had all 6.

Just my circle, my region (Devon), or is anyone else noticing this?
