I see posts where people discuss fetishising skin colour , ethnicity etc and some find it off putting or in some cases offensive. My question is what’s the difference between a preference and a fetish - is there a definitive line between the two.

I'd say reference is a leaning towards a certain thing, in this case skin colour but not to exclusion if all others. Where there is a genuine attraction. Fetishising is when it excludes other and dominates that person's thinking

The real definition of a fetish is that you have to have that to gain sexual satisfaction

Compared to a kink which is something you like

Take high heels as an example.

You may have a kink for high heels which means you like to wear them or someone to wear them. It excites you

A fetish for high heels would mean that you cannot achieve sexual gratification without you or a partner or both wearing them

I’m think they can be pretty similar. I think come folks confuse fetish with addiction or something unhealthy, but I don’t think it is. Fetish can be just a little thing you like, especially if it’s not a mainstream thing…. ….i think….

I wasn’t sure myself so posted the dictionary definitions, but they aren’t always up to date with the latest sexy parlance.
