This morning it’s starting to feel like autumn, not that summers been great

A lot cooler, a dew on the car windscreen and definitely a later sunrise

I still have so much to do, fences to paint, wood to split, projects to finish

Do you “winterise” your house and garden before the seasons change, if so what do you do?

It does feel a bit autumnal doesn't it.

I started clearing and cleaning the greenhouse over the weekend. Over the coming couple of weeks we need to repaint one of the sheds and start to empty out the pots and hanging baskets.

I don't usually do any of this until late September at the earliest.

The house stays more or less the same except windows are shut earlier and the shutters are closed to keep the heat in instead of out.

I prefer autumn and winter.

Changing leaf colours, a lit fire, feeling like I can hibernate

The only reason I enjoy cold nights is that I can cuddle under a blanket to keep warm..

You want to be cool, and I like to feel hot.

Just take your clothes off…

Central

I protect a few plants but not typically until later in the year, at least until autumn. I don't do much else, apart from plant spring bulbs. The home gets left to struggle. Though I've a shed that has to get its painting finished.

Near Wells

The apples are starting to fall off my tree in the garden. They’re only small but it’s a sure sign Autumn is on the way, if not already here.

I’ll try and save bringing logs inside the house until at least September.

Unfortunately the shops are full of Halloween crap, so it doesn't help with morale.

Quality Street arriving 1st of September.

.

I'm loving the gentle embrace of Autumn - the days are far cooler yet it's still bright. It'll soon be foraging time and that brings me joy.

In terms of the house and garden? Put away outdoor furniture, change the duvets, get someone in to do a boiler service, unearth the slow cooker, start with the Autumnal candles.

That reminds me. I need to get the chimney swept
