"What do you like? Walking? Nature? history? architecture? food? I love medieval history, so my little solo breaks are castle heavy Choose one thing that you really want to see/do and plan a day trip. " I don't mind walking, I haven't been to a museum in forever (since I was a kid), and I really enjoy my food haha. I really like zoos if I'm honest. I guess I'm a bit self conscious about going out alone haha. Any locations you would recommend?

It disappears pretty quickly the more you go out alone, though. Why not try a small wildlife park to begin with before you go full on with one of the bigger zoos. Lakeland Wildlife Oasis in Cumbria is lovely and small.

"No need at all to be self conscious alone. I often am. My tip is to find a walking tour with a guide. You will learn so much in a couple of hours. I enjoyed Bath, York and Chester (which also has a zoo for you)" Thank you very much. I haven't been Chester zoo in years... I may get out of bed and visit... If the weather is nice

Chester is a great mix of history and the zoo is there (it's big and generally busy, but it's big enough to have quieter bits too). Peak District for walking? All depends how far you want to travel too.

"I love solo trips. York is a nice city with some good food options. Winchester also nice. Bath. York and Bath both definitley have things like ghost tours or horrible history tours which are walking tours around the city and usually good fun and a nice way to meet other people if you want to. If you want zoo’s, depending on £, an experience at Heythrop Zoological Gardens would be well recommended. Or, not a zoo as such, but the reindeers up on the Cairngorms are well worth a visit and plenty of hiking around there! The British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield is also nice for a different zoo experience and not far from Guildford which is a nice city to explore." Thank you very much. I'll keep all of those in mind 😊

As an added bonus you could visit the reindeer centre in the Cairngorms. Walking and animals all in one hit.

"National Trust properties are ideal for solo visits. A lot of them have guided tours and other activities during the day, some have productions of plays in the grounds on certain summer evenings. I don't know what's near you but if you were going to visit more than one membership would probably be cheaper and it might encourage you to go more frequently. Also it's surprising how many people will speak to you if you're alone ...or maybe that's just me " Thank you very much. I might see into national trust memberships and what is around me. I don't know if people speak to me when I'm alone... Maybe I just look a little antisocial...

Mind you it can lead to some interesting conversations I would also say always have something interesting to read on your phone or a paperback. If you're sitting alone in a cafe or restaurant and feel a little self conscious it can give you something to focus on briefly.

I need to boost my confidence... Like I'm tempted to go to a club... But because I'm going alone, and not used to this scene, it kinda hits my anxiety if you get me?
