There are a few things I want to scope out before I am behind closed doors with you:

1) That you are who you've sent photos of.

2) That you don't present any red flags or warning signs.

3) Whether I think I can physically take you on in a fight if you turn out to be some sort of serial killer.

Initial arrangement as a social, for sure.

But if there’s sparks at the social no harm in going in for the kill!

We find if you agree to a predetermined outcome before you meet, that the pressure is there before you’ve even got acquainted and that (for us) can totally kill it outright. ESP if there’s no attraction when you meet in person.

As a general rule, I’ll only meet if I’m pretty confident it’s going to progress beyond a social. (Presuming that’s the context in which we’ve been talking. If it’s platonic then obviously just a social as and when suits)

And therefore I’m happy to make arrangements based on it doing so.

Worst comes to the worst one of us says no thanks, it’s not a disaster (though maybe ask me that once it happens, I might feel differently )

Equally I am happy to just do social then re-convene for a play meet, sometimes that works too.

In the interests of safety, and having learnt the hard way, I’ll always have done a video call first and/or met in public as a starting point though.
