I put a 500 ml water bottle in the freezer half full of my favourite drink (sugar free pink grapefruit).

Leave it overnight and top it up with more of the drink. Now it's in my backpack keeping my back cool... And an icy drink on the go.

Please share your to tip to stay cool.

The UK's moderate climate is lovely. As long as the Gulf Stream continues to circulate...

I got mine from argos, paid around £500 for it, a definite investment as I work from home

The Continental

Shut windows and doors. Keep the warm air outside.

Open windows overnight to allow the cooler air in.

South Wales

Keep a water spray in the fridge and spritz yourself (and your dogs) when you get too warm.

Bit of a death trap if you have wooden floors though ⚠️

I used to work for a boss who said, it's ok if you want to make a negative point, but you'd be a waste of space if you don't also offer a solution... In this case, how to keep cool... ?

A den in the Glen

Wet your forearms and let the wind hit them. They are a thermostat for the body apparently and will assist on cooking.

I think the Navy Seals use it. Never tried personally. I'd rather mop my brow and pull my boxers from my arse crack.

Difficult in a modern flat that is EPC A. It's designed to keep warmth in.

As my cotton sheets get sweaty, I put it on a 30@30 wash and hang the bedding on the balcony. As the air wafts in, I guess it cools the air because my sheets will be bone dry by the afternoon in this heat!

Great tip! I have carpets, so I guess if they get a bit damp, they might take the heat out of the air as the moisture evaporates?

My forearms are totally hairless so won't take long to dry ... I bet it feels nice using the spritzer from the fridge. Combining top tips!

A thought for you guys with hairy forearms tho (very sexy!)... You poor hairy creatures... You must spend hot days with your tongues out...?

Boo's World

Freeze a clean bed sheet and put it on your bed before you sleep.

Buy a "freezable" hot water bottle (normal ones will split) and use them in your bed on your chairs or as you work lean against one.

Wirral

Cooling blanket.

I have it for menopausal night sweats, and it does genuinely work. Terrible for the environment (all nylon/polyethylene so releasing a shed load of microplastics with every wash) but my ethics don't last long when my already terrible sleep is at stake.

In the daytime keeping curtains closed with windows open and a fan to create a bit of a breeze is as good as I can get at home.
