The Town by The Cross

This is an incredibly fun swinging type post.

On t' radio yesterday. It was said that ASDA were leading the way by putting more staff on tills.... cos people HATE self servy things.

Well let me tell YOU Asda...... M and S are leading the way.

No stupid machines telling you what to do with your stuff and they've been doing this for ages now. No WHOOPS and BELLS and LIGHTS and BUZZERS ,just a peaceful shop ...

Sainsbury's do the same.

The supermarket thread was brought to you by G.C's Shopping Awareness Channel

Not the Marks and Spencer near us. They recently introduced self service in the clothing department...let that sink in...the clothing department.

The grocery bit or food hall dahling has queues a mile long and a load of self service tills to scan your dine in for £12.

I'm revolting

I know you are , I know you are ..... BUT the M n S ones don't shout at you and I feel peaceful as I leave with my reduced wholemeal granary, my blackcurrant tarts and my crab pate......

Your Marks must be zen like, ours is like entering the portal to Hades.

I'm not keen on their clothes either, they're a bit too 'classic' for moi.

Can't be leaving a lady despondent now can I?

That would be so un-chivalrous of me.

M&S and Sainsbury's both have had self service checkouts for a few years here

I walked through an M&S once to use the bogs. That was the only penny I've ever spent there.

I was in the local Sainsbury's last week for the first time in about 10 years. There used to be a dozen tills. There are now 2 and a dozen self service ones.

Mind you, you haven't lived until you've tried M and S chocolate chip shortbread from the bakery counter.

I stopped shopping in Marks' when I stopped getting a discount

I no longer wear M&S undies, the quality has gone sharply downhill.

So, I don't really know anything about the tills nowadays!

Central

I've just realised that the M&S ones are quieter And typically more staff to help. The scanners were frequently double counting m lot of items, so had to check and get many duplicates removed. It seems a lot better recently though. Getting double charged and quiet or accurate but noisy?
