Hell no !

Not for me. Aeroplanes are bad enough but a paper airplane... no thanks.

Deep down though i bet its amazing !

Yes …. Enjoy …. it’s totally amazing and so quiet plus the tug is great from an acceleration point but the noise of the cable detaching takes a bit of getting used too ….

One great piece of advice I was given …

If all starts to go horribly wrong put out right leg over your left leg

Apparently it’s easier to get you out of the ground on a left handed thread ! 😬🤪

I’ve been up in a glider four times now. It’s a great feeling soaring the thermals.

The first time I wasn’t ready for the glider letting go of the winch. . .

You hear a thud then the glider slows down but after that it was amazing. I’m sure the pilot will inform you of what’s happening and I had a front eat, the views are amazing.

Have a good one

Enjoy it! It’s an absolute amazing experience.

Keen pilot here and gliding (for me) has an unrivalled purity. First time up you’ll most likely be towed up to about 2,000 feet and the released. As a passenger you’ll be in the front seat, and will have an amazing view.

Flown gliders since age 13, soloed at 16 and I still love the sport.

If it’s got a fan at the front it’s cheating

Have a great time OP

You’re in for an amazing experience so quiet and peaceful and such a good view, the only thing better is parachuting where you’re actually out on your own

I hope you'll enjoy it when you do get up.

I had a couple of flights many years ago on a winch launch. The glider goes up at 45 degrees, when it levels off, the cable is released. The only noise is the air rushing over the canopy. It was fantastic.

Don’t they just use a joystick kind of thing?

I’m sure the views will be breathtaking - enjoy!

Yes and no.

Been up in a glider but it was a powered glider. So it did have an engine but the propellers are totally feathered once at altitude and then is a effectively a glider.

When ever you fly in light aircraft it's feels amazing and also a sort of vulnerability. You really get a sense there's not much keeping you in the air. Like there's a few mm of material between you and the sky that you're riding on. To me I imagine it's the closes I can get to riding a magic carpet.

Enjoy.
