It amazes me when people say "I wouldn't let him talk to me like that"

If my business had gone tits up to the extent that it was losing 5k a week, like some of the so-called "businesses" he visits, and there was a man who could turn that on it's head and help me to make 5k a week instead, he could call me a wanker, a tosser, an idiot, hell, I'd even let him call me "cunt face" if he was going to pull me out of that kind of shit.

Perhaps there is "no need for it" - but a small price to pay for him to pull you out of the shit to the extent he does, don't you think?

So long as he had no qualms me calling him a gobshite from time to time and making fun of his frowny face, I'd be cool with the name calling.

Because you're right, the restaurants he visits are ran by people whose desires are bigger than their abilities. Too many chefs, too many ingredients etc. I could kick the ass of most chefs on those programs

Personally I don't believe you need to talk to people the way he does to get your point across in business.

I'm a Gordon fan as well. Think he's ace. And he could do whatever he wanted to turn my business around.

Rightly so, he goes over the top regarding foul language but its because it's now what he's known for. It's his entertaiment.

The guy probably sleeps 4 hours a night. I doubt he turns up at the kitchen during opening time and goes home when the shift's over. And I've multitasked working in film and telly. You get sweaty, frustrated, angry, tired and go sometimes half a day without a break. His line of work, swearing and losing your temper is actually healthy!

ah but times are changing finally, speaking to Stephen Docherty (first british 3 michelin star chef ), Neil Forbes (scottish chef of the year) and Roy Brett (Chef patron in edinburgh, trained by Rick Stein) recently they all say, if your in that kitchen environment these days, get out, fast, theres no need for it, we all get heated sometime but certainly should never be the norm.

I do agree if it's malicious. I've walked out of jobs because of that but the longest job I ever kept was the worst and it ended with having a lot of enemies. Lol still handed their arses to them tho

I have to agree, he realises it's like his celebrity catchphrase and he can't really drop it now....

kitchens are a funny world and if you'd ever worked in one then maybe you'd appreciate the fact that, well... if you're making a b******s of something then maybe you should be told. the 'business' world is full of utter tripe in my experience, management speak is nonsense!!! seriously!?!'let's cascade that to all departments' 'can we sit down for a conflab' its nonsense!!!

and for the record i am not defending him making people cry, but if you have any knowledge of the environment in which he works, then sorry 'excuse me, i've emailed you about your sloppy food, i've scheduled a meeting to discuss what we can do to resolve the issue' doesn't work!!! he has one aim and thats to make the paying customer happy. he is right in so much of what he says.. he sacked a commis for not wiping a plate, where his only job was to WIPE PLATES!!! basic common sense in my book. but as for most of the world today, common sense isn't very commnon.

Surely these people that he's trying to help have seen his shows before? So they know what he's all about! Which is, passionate about his chosen profession and helping others find passion and self worth too!

If people don't like him/his swearing, then theres hundreds of other channels to choose from when he's on! No-one is forcing you to watch.

As I work in hospitality I would quite happily put up with it. Read his books hear his story listen to what he has dealt with professionally and personally. He know his stuff and he is old school trained. As the old saying goes if you can't take the heat get the Fucking hell out of my fucking kitchen you snivelling little piss bucket poor excuse for a scrotum.!!!

There's nothing worse than corporate bullshit

"Let's flag that up with the relevant department and fire off an email then we'll have a conflab and brainstorm ideas" FUCK OFF!

I had an employee who had come from a corporate background. He received a complaint and he said to me "a complaint is an opportunity to improve oneself"

I told him straight it wasn't, it was an opportunity for me to give him a bollocking, and if he came out with such bullshit again, he'd be getting his P45.... He resigned a couple of months later. I don't need that kind of nonsense thanks very much.
