A friend went to a Pizza Express in West London, started eating her lasagne, realised there was something a bit crunchy in it, picked through it and found a load of broken glass

Apart from the ones in Chinatown I haven't been to a good restaurant in my life. The food hasn't been bad but the service has been a huge letdown. Waited an hour for chicken and pesto last time I bothered lol

I was in a pizza hut local to me, three quarters through the pizza i look down and spot a dark long hair in the pizza, Not on it but actually under the pizza topping.

Ended up only paying for a drink each.

As a Chef I believe where food is concerned, you get what you pay for, generally! Agree, thou shalt not eat at wetherspoons to that poster! Check out trip advisor etc first!!

Pizza hut, ordered our food, an hour later all we had received was a flat fizzy orangeade and some garlic bread, I then complained and we got another flat fizzy orangeade and food but no cutlery, it took two women to get it for me as I had a pasta meal, never again

Pizza hut in truro.three times we went and there was a long absence between every time and begging to get me to go. I found a long black hair in our meal. Every time. What makes me laugh is when they apologize and offer to remake it for you. Why would you want another one when your feeling sick already?? Beggars belief!

I too have been in restaurant/food service business and I will complain if the food is a disappointment and not worth the price asked, I will then negotiate with owner/manager over price. However if I'm happy with my food and service I'm always happy to pay and leave a good tip.

Not only complain if food is bad, but comment when it is not good (i.e. average) as well. If nobody says anything then they will not know of the problem.

It is a problem, because i am a chef i will always say what i think, and those that know me and are close know that i will say something, but i will never let on UNLESS it is so bad.

Because being in the trade i know that there are professional complainer's to get money off their bill

If I'm in a pizza express paying their sort of prices, then, as said you get what you pay for and don't expect Michelin standard. But if you are in a Michelin restaurant and feel you could make better at home then is the time to have a quiet word about the quality.

Surely just because you could do better at home doesnt mean the food served is sub standard??

I don't cook to Michelin standard, so if I'm out paying Michelin standard prices I'd expect Michelin standard food. By the same token if I pay Pizza express prices I don't expect Michelin standard food.

Just because it is mitchelin star doesnt mean it will be to everyones taste....

People like certain dishes done they way they like them....

If I dont like the way they have prepared it, doesnt mean its sub standard....

It's Nandos for me. Had food poisoning 3 times from them.

Significant time between visits that were only broken by friends begging with encouragements such as "You'll be fine, it won't happen again!".

You couldn't pay me to step foot in there now whether their standards have improved or not.

Newcastle

The place I work has had some interesting complaints nothing serious but one guest claimed they found a toe nail lol. I cleared the table. It was quite posh so all that was on the table when I finished was fresh napkins and water glasses. Supprisingly the guests had open toed sandals on and just returned from the bathroom. They called over the manager and claimed it was in the dish that was just cleared ha ha. Needless to say we still charged them full whack and we would investigate who's it was via DNA trace as it was obviously malicious. We asked them to provide samples so they could be excluded from the investigation. They refused paid the bill in full left a £100 tip and were never seen again!!!
