The Russian mantra is win at all costs, so I'm happy their athletes aren't competing in Paris! Though, a whole bunch of Chinese athletes are competing who have previously had positive doping tests, some more than once. We're supposed to believe in some mass contamination event across multiple sports. Hmmmm. " Mm not sure what you're trying to say here but there was Russian sponsored state doping going on which is well evidenced and has been proven beyond doubt. Yes, other nations/individuals cheat too but not to the same extent; or maybe they haven't been found out yet! It's a real shame for the individual Russian athlete but this is the unfortunate price they pay for Russias invasion of Ukraine and for the indiscriminate killing of thousands of civilians. So in that sense it matters that they're not allowed to compete at these Olympics.... | |||

And certainly not in certain sports. Being able to observe the Russian Juniors train at Alfamar in Portugal. I was pretty trabsfixed on there training and the verry few outward projections of their track and feild system. It was the closest to professional track and feild they're was. Of course I was unaware of the outright abuse of individuals in the system, state sponsored doping and corruption from individuals who had a monetry interest in the sport. The System was a marvel at producing medal winners, something all sporting bodies have learnt from. But it came at a cost both in the sovoet era and then later in the Putin era. Something that not all sporting federations and governing body's are willing to accept. | |||

" Depending on the sort they can represent as regional neutral athletes, providing they can prove no state involvement. O beehive there was a cyclist in the time trial who was ANA. | |||

And Putin could fix it immediately if he's upset by Russian athletes not competing and leave Ukraine. Invading countries has all kind of consequences.
