leaving a face book group I joined for the over sixties because people keep describing themselves as X years young. 😡

Petty I know.

What petty reason have you had for stopping doing something?

It’s not petty at all

I left Facebook all together as there were so many “what a bad day posts” that when anyone asked the reply was “pm me”

So attention seekers often see me leave places

I've been known to not do something I had already planned on doing, simply because someone told me to do it. My motivation to do that thing just goes through the floor 🤷‍♂️

I have people blocked who do the woe is me thing.

I would never describe myself as 67 years young or ask 'how young are you?'

Yes, I don’t generally like groups that are focused on age, but belong to a few that by definition are all my age (60s) or older.

I tend to fade away from rather than actually leave groups that I am no longer interested in or get no enjoyment from (unless I feel that its a duty) rather than leaving, but it comes to the same thing.

I hate the ‘60 years young’ stuff too. I probably behave as if I’m young now in a way that ironically I never did in my youth but there’s no point pretending that aging doesn’t happen and have implications.

I ended a relationship when I was younger because she wanted vouchers instead of cash. Can't put up with that kind of insanity.

I stopped using Facebook because my big sister kept posting cryptic "you know who your true friends are when the shit hits the fan" type comments. Rather than unfollow or unfriended my own sister and face having to explain why I didn't know what was going on in her life, I chose to never log on again. Now I have no idea how anyone is doing.

I know you can, but then I'd have to awkwardly explain why I don't know what she's talking about when she mentions her numerous Facebook activities. It was far easier to be able to say "oh, I don't use Facebook anymore...."

I've left fab related chat groups because of the me,me,me creatures.

The one-upmanship, the demand for attention or validation or just taking every compliment as their own regardless of who they were actually aimed at.

Even taking every criticism personally when they weren't even involved in the conversation or being spoken about.

Normally I would just slip away quietly but on a few occasions I've been the group admin and had a quiet word with the culprits privately only to be met with abuse and drama so I've pulled the plug on the groups completely.

I've left a few business related Facebook groups because they have been equally childish.

I've removed people as friends on here/from my hotlist because of their mindnumbingly dull little dig statuses.

I'm also rather petty because I eyeroll so hard when people describe themselves as x years young as well. Or say they don't have wrinkles when I've met them.

Nah, fuck it. It's not petty. I'm just not letting their shite live rent free in my head.

A group that I'm currently a member of has had some issues with someone following a recent trip abroad.

We take great pride in being very inclusive and splitting the cost of everything equally so that those who maybe couldn't normally afford to do certain things are given that opportunity.

Her social media posts throughout the trip were deliberately worded to give the impression she had organised the entire thing and was travelling alone despite the fact all she had to do was turn up.

It might seem petty but she has been removed from all future trips.
