I have 3 small surgical hernias, they won’t operate unless risk of strangulation so I’ve had them 10 years now so can’t answer on how they fix

What's a surgical hernia? Is it one you get through having surgery

somewhere

I have one, they were gonna remove it, got all the way to the operation, sat there in my surgical stockings and the surgeon refused to operate on me as I was heavier then and said I would just be back in a few years to get it removed again (and I was a heavy smoker). Lived with it ever since.

It's in my groin, gives me a bit of pain now and again, sorry I know it doesn't answer your question but for the love of god, don't you tube it 😂

Not directly from the sugery it’s when the scar from having surgery herniates later on

i had a double hernia which i never knew about just thought i was getting a little fatter around the waist

i went into hospital for an operation on my leg to repair an old motorbike injury and the consultant looked at me, rushed off and came back with another doctor.

he started drawing on me with his pen explaining what he could see. i was very lucky as they dealt with it when they did my leg.

i was off work for about 4 weeks, then only light duties for another 6 weeks.

it took a long time for the mesh (i believe they put inside) to settle down.

was sharp and felt like my body was trying to reject it.

i also urinated blood after the operation.

it took about 6 months for the grabbing feeling to settle down.

i was in hospital overnight.

hope this helps

At least get it scanned to check for risk of strangulation it’s very serious can cause sepsis or even death

I'm the same about going to the doctor but on this occasion I think the wise woman would go.

Ring tomorrow, it's not as if you'll get an appointment for six months is it 🤔

I've had a Double Ingranial Hernia..

For the Guys this is a Wince-causing description -

It's where the Groin Muscle tears around the Tubes from Your Testicles allowing your Lower Bowel to start coming through if the tear is big enough..

I had "Corrective" Keyhole Surgery where they insert a Mesh behind the tears .. FAILED !! One mesh rolled up and stayed behind the Muscle wall .. the Other rolled up and started coming through the muscle tear !!

so, to end quickly .. 2 Further Operations where they Cut open the Groin to access the Muscles and stitched them up directly ...

My advice .. Get it sorted out ASAP , See the Doc, say it hurts and is impacting your mental health (self-esteem wise as I know it's not a nice sight) and they'll assist you getting it sorted before it becomes a major issue

I ended up with a very large incisional hernia after they operated when my appendix burst.

A month in hospital after the emergency op then a year later an op for the hernia it left. That was 8 hours on the table, three layers of mesh, two surgeons then nearly six months off work. And no belly button left

I had an inguinal hernia a few years ago. Was extremely uncomfortable plus occasionally I had bouts of intense internal pain.

The doctor diagnosed a hernia and then began months of seeing various doctors and consultants. It was just as Covid was going on so obviously everywhere was stretched with overcrowded hospitals.

Eventually I went private, cost 2/3k, and had the keyhole operation within 4 weeks. The surgeon said I also had a twisted bowel which was the intense pain I’d been having so they did that at same time.

I was fortunate in that I could afford it, it was over a year later before I would have had the op on the nhs.

It completely sorted me although since then one of my testicles is bigger than the other, which is a bit bizarre.

Secret hideaway in the pennines

I have had two which required surgery to repair first one in my groin, which actually dropped in to my nut sack. The second in my abdomen which was on the verge of strangulating.

Not had any problems or issues with them since

They are tears in your abdominal mustles which allows the stomach or bowl to pritrude. So they can't dig them out.

A good friend of mine is due to have surgery to fix his. Key hole with a small mesh plate which the muscle will grow over.

He is in and out in a day all being well.

Hope this helps OP.

Mr had one, umbilical hernia, operated on on Tuesday. Not large enough to put in a mesh, so stitches instead. Now in bed recovering, tender and using pain meds. Advised not to lift more than 2kg for at least two weeks.

Well went to see about my hernia today. Its 12 cm and the doctor sent me to Leicester for an emergency appointment.

After a lot of probing and poking about its an intervention hernia caused by being sewn up after my perforated bowl.

Anyway do you know what they've decided to do......nothing. As it doesn't hurt me there not going to operate
