Something that has been bothering me for a while is why at the end of the thread does it say "reply in forum "

And underneath say "post new message in thread "?.

What is the difference ?.

Ta .

it could be that it selects a different source to code, during a conversation. For example If i'm responding to a specific comment I can reply to that without having to quote..and then later a mod can see who in fact I was replying to etc..maybe

then again..I'm talking shite as I've no clue

I guess like much on site it comes down to personal preference.

Some may wish to "reply in forum" whilst others may prefer to "post a new message to thread" !!

It's exactly this diversity on Fab that keeps me coming back for more!!

Although I suspect the real reason is that some will wish to respond to messages further up without quoting and the "reply" button saves them scrolling all the way down and reading every post!

Probably a leftover from whatever forum software this was based on, where you could see threaded views, if you wished...wouldn't be a bad idea to still have it, to prevent some replies looking so out of context

No because you can do that from every post anyway. My bet goes on hasty web design.
