"Excellent.

If you have sky+ or a mobile phone… download discovery+ app…. Anything that isn’t shown on the BBC will be shown live there..

And also.. sporting controversy (apart from anything dressage)

The Olympic football also starts today… all I will say about the Argentina vs Morocco game is that it ended as a 2-2 draw after 15 minutes of stoppage time.. it was madness!!! You have to find it!

More madness… right… Argentina scored minute 16 of stoppage time to make it 2-2, riot starts in stadium.. players taken off field… everyone thinks game is over.. stadium is cleared… after an hour told that match had been suspended… players come out…. Goal is checked… and then it’s been disallowed by VAR!

So it’s 2-1 Morocco….

About 3 feet away from the fence

I don't understand why VAR is being used in the Olympic football tournament.

The Olympics are supposed to be a (theoretical) celebration of amateur sport, even the football tournament kind of nods in recognition of this by only allowing U23 players.

So why is VAR being used, when the only reason VAR exists, is to placate the whining of professional football clubs complaining that refereeing decisions was harming them financially?

My son and I watched the synchronised swimming earlier - nail biting at its best and you’ve got to feel for the Australian lady who slipped and cost them a medal but that just shows the fine margins and winning and losing.

Pidcock was awesome, guts and determination to come from forty seconds down and be in the top two then to take the chance to overtake in a tight area..

Peaty has tested positive for COVID so maybe that's why he got silver..

I'm getting cross at the TV coverage. This is the first Olympics with equal male and female participation and they've rearranged some of the running order to make some of the female finals happen in the peak times. Yet, the BBC did not show Katie Ledecky's 4th straight gold medal in the 800m free as it happened and when they showed it retrospectively, it was only the last 200m or so. Would they have done the same for Michael Phelps, the only other swimmer with the same record? We've had every one of Leon Marchand's events (quite rightly) but we've not had the same from the big ticket women's events.

I completely disagree the BBC coverage has been loaded very heavily not only for the female events but the presenters as well I can't believe you think this particularly with all the Simone Biles coverage.

I have absolutely no problem with it being female heavy I celebrate all sporting excellence.

Don't worry long distance open water swimming is soon as well

If it bothers you pop over to Eurosport they are showing pistol shooting and dancing horsies.

The BBC will always prioritise team GB so I'm assuming there was no GB swimmer in the race and/or some event was on at the same time?

No Brits. But there were no Brits in many other races shown in full when they had other big names in. Like Marchand (who I admire greatly, by the way). We saw more decathlon on the athletics with no Brit representative (again, I like these events!) but Ledecky was making history! I firmly believe if it had been Phelps or similar, then it would have been shown.

The winner of the Olympics yesterday has to be the DJ at the women’s gold medal Beach Volleyball between Canada and Brazil,

Massive arguement erupts in the middle of the 3rd set between the teams… DJ manages do defuse it all by playing john lennon’s Imagine… which cracks up both teams….

You have to find it if you have not seen it!

Minor clarification and not to put down Kellie's fantastic achievements but first Irish female boxer to do that,as Nicola Adams became the first ever to do it in 2012 and 2016

Does taking helium before a race make you run faster? It appears to have helped the female Kenyan athlete, Kipyegon.

Anyway, congrats to her for being the first woman to get 3 golds in the same event. That's 3 separate olympics, 8 years and pushed out a little Kenyan along the way. Some feat.

And it's going to be worse in 4 years NBC own all of the rights for TV so expect the coverage to be 99,% American sports they've already changed the format track and Field is now in the first week rather than second.

All to keep the American audiences happy they want to see USA winning everything from day 1 to get the audience figures, forget about the couple of billion worldwide.

Yep, it’s a shame America won the basketball, the look on LeBron’s face when France went ahead was a picture! Nerves and a lack of pace from the French in the fast breaks, coupled with not shutting down Curry cost them that momentous victory. I would have loved to watch LeBron go up for a silver medal in his gold trainers……

Actually they don’t….

They are being sub leased to OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) so everything is being broadcast live…. It’s just that NBC can if they want have their own commentators over it if they wish…..

And the BBC/Discovery deal is still in place…. Where that if an event isn’t being show live on the BBC (which are allowed to show 2 live at any point) or Eurosport….. then it will be available on Discovery +

Actual Tom Cruise jumping off the building was pretty cool tho.

But I agree it was a bit mehhh.

London 2012 closing felt like more of a celebration of the event.

That said I really did enjoy the games.

Quite baffling why with all the amazing lakes and rivers in France they didn't use one of those for the open water swimming and the triathlon.
