Get one of those vanish soap bars (can get them on Amazon) then wet the trainers and rub it all over. Pop in the washing machine.

Did this on heavily market white trainers after a friend suggested it. Came out like brand new.

For some reason I missed the washing machine bit. I wonder if it would work if I just used a scrubbing brush, Vanish bar and a damp cloth

Washing machine seems to be the answer.

I neglected to mention that they are quite chunky, platforms. I'm not sure I want them bashing about in my trusty machine.

I'm going the vanish bar, scrubbing brush very wet cloth route or even hand wash.

I spray mine with a power hose.

Good as new (what’s left of them anyway)

If using the washing machine, use a low temperature wash because the heat in the water can melt the glue in trainers. 30c would be fine.

I use the Jason Markk Shoe Cleaner Essentials kit. Been using it for more than five years, still have the same bottle, and clean my white trainers every few weeks.

I'm probably not going to use the washing machine. That's useful advice though

I think the best bit is the brush that comes with it. It’s gentle enough for canvas and does a brilliant job cleaning without fraying.

A new pair arrived today actually. They threw the current ones into such sharp relief because they're pristine that I was prompted to clean them .

There is a zip up mesh thing that you put them in before they go in the machine.

Warm water and normal washing liquid or laundry detergent and scrub them with a brush.

Rinse well and leave to dry.

Need to be careful using some products like vanish as they can sometimes ruin the colour of the fabric.

I put mine in a bucket with warm water, detergent and an oxywash type stuff similar to vanish. Leave them overnight to soak. Then I use a toothbrush on them the next day to move any marks left, that haven't lifted off in the soak. The soaking means you don't have to scrub so much.

Mr muscle oven cleaner and an old toothbrush, bicarbonate of soda mixed with white vinegar mixed into paste works well too, leave in for about ten minutes, may need to do this twice and also do it outside in the fresh air

Put them in a pillowcase, and wash them when you wash your towels. (Or just poke some towels in at the same time.) They'll bang about a bit, but the towels will soften it a bit

I’m actually doing my white NB550’s tonight !

For the canvas I’ll scrub with hot soapy water and a hard nail brush. Soak the laces overnight in washing detergent and boiling water . White vinegar 50/50 with hot water and wipes for the leather. Dry in the tumble dryer
