There are always exceptions though

If it was someone close and I felt that changes were a health or MH concern, I'd broach it but, ultimately, as an adult, the decision lies with them

However, it relates to issues like capacity, which is covered by the Mental Capacity Act. It has to be proved that someone lacks capacity and a decision that you disagree with is not a sufficient reason.

Or arguably if a person is a threat to themselves or others, which is covered by the Mental Health Act. The threat to oneself is quite a contentious matter though, hence there's quite a significant threshold.

Even in such circumstances an intervention would need to be the least restrictive option.

If someone is vulnerable other people e.g. parents have a responsibility to ensure the well-being (including physical) of those they care for. Those decisions will entail their beliefs and values. In the case of a child their right to have a say in decisions, which affect them is protected under article 12 UNCRC.

Liberty entails both the freedom to do as we wish and the freedom from harm. We have a duty of care to others as well as a responsibility to respect their autonomy.

Depends, have a friend who used to self harm. And yes I did very much care what she doing to herself. If it can have an impact on someone I care about or if it has an impact on myself I am going to worry or have some kind of opinion on it. If it has none of these they can crack on to their hearts content.
