bloody laptops

I've got back from paying my bills to two sheepish children. Seems that they have managed to kill both laptops while I was out.

Both apparently popped up with a message saying there was a virus then the shut themselves down and restarted repeatedly.

now I have anti virus and spybot so not sure how they have managed it. But I am not happy. Can't even load them up to have any idea what has happened as they won't even boot up at all. Just blank screen. Can't get into any options. So really I am now laptop less.

The thing that really bugs me is they have their own profiles they can not Go on anything not age specific, can't download stuff without me putting in my password. So I am really annoyed.

Got to try see if can at least save my photos off both harddrives.

If possible try to boot them in safe mode. Youmay be able to salvage your data that way. I have seen this virus a few times Iin my line of work. Sad to say you're going to need professional help to remove it quicker and cheaper is just a reload of the laptop though.

If you've got the parental controls set and they can't trawl random sites - it could have been something sent to them in an email?

It's commonly referred to as a "drive by" infection. A link or advert on a normally safe page is hacked and leads unsuspecting people to malware infected sites that attack the computer. These things are every where. Seen them on facebook, law.yahoo.com, even cnn.com. Another way this malacious programs propegate are via email and im programs. Rule of thumb is not to click links sent via email or im without verifying with the sender that they actually did send that link.

Start it in safe mode then restore back to date that it was fine. I had a virus like that and restored it and the virus was gone..

quickest way. If it will boot in safe mode. Then do full scans after
