"So what will the government stance be on swinging? What's the government stance on controlling men with a god-complex who like the limelight? What's the government stance on helping abused women and their children to leave their abusers? Using the death of six children as a way of presenting benefit cuts as a good thing is heinous, even for Osborne." Perfect Answer

"Using the death of six children as a way of presenting benefit cuts as a good thing is heinous, even for Osborne." Absolutely. Sick, even for a posh boy who's out of touch. Plus the actions of the evil Philpott in no way indicate anything about others on benefit - do they?

"well as of this week benefits are capped at £26k for the year (£500 per week) so I am not sure how much more can be done" £500 a week? with no rent, redueced council tax, free school meals, free uniforms, free eye care, dental care and prescription, use of the PDSA if you have animals etc suddenly I feel like a proper twat for bothering to go to work

But the 500 includes rent, as some greedy bastard private landlords charge that and much more a week......Why? Because they know it will be paid! Not anymore it wont......

Spot on cant believe Osborne would use the death of 6 kids in this way (well do believe it actually), Philpot is a class one wanker and would be with 1 pound or a million.

Personally think they should cap them at whatever the full time equivalent of the minimum wage is per person. Why should some people go out and work full time for less than half of what someone else gets on benefits and not working

Its about the rent being paid to private landlords....

The man was asked a question, he answered. What does anyone want him to do? Say no I can't answer that question because people may not like it? To be fair....he said what a lot of the posts about benefits say on this forum and that is they think scroungers shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. I suppose it depends on who says it as to how it will be welcomed.

"The guy used his kids as capital to generate income…. a scumbag of the highest order. If there is a flaw in the welfare system which makes this possible, should it not be stopped to prevent other scumbags doing the same? I know the number of unemployed with 10+ children is very low, I can’t remember the exact total, but I do remember there are 40,000 with 5+ children. Personally I don’t care if it is 40,000 or 4. The system should not permit people to use breeding as a means to generate higher income…… it is not what the welfare state is there for. "

"Of course I feel the same as most people have answered, that the benefits system should be revised regularly to ensure those in need are getting what they are entitled to and preventative measures in place to prevent scroungers abusing the system. On the subject of Mick Philpott though, I don't think the crime he committed was solely benefit orientated. I believe the man was a control freak, treated his family like possessions, liked the status of being a virile man envied by having two women at his disposal who looked after him etc etc. I think the girlfriend removing 5 of his children and thereby upsetting the family unit that he saw himself head of, was the main catalyst behind the crime and not solely just to get a bigger house and retaining all the extra benefits. Indeed with the stabbing of an ex girlfriend many years before, shows that the man has problems with losing control. I believe this man was a nasty undesirable character regardless of whether he was in employment or not. By all means the government should aim to look at the system regularly to ensure benefit is paid to those in need, but to shake up the system using this crime as an example seems unfair as I don't believe it was a crime committed solely to abuse the benefit system " # Very well said, but as youve seen, a few people beleive they should on here, god forbid anything ever happen to them, and they have to rely on the states help longterm

"Do the government have a stance on Stephen Seddon who was convicted of murdering his parents for a 250k inheritance a couple of weeks ago? Does anyone? I certainly can't remember seeing endless threads about it people are more upset because it was so many kids that died in a horrible way." that isn't in question. neither was it the question

The death of those poor children has hardly featured in the "let's cut off the money" arguments. In many posts there has been little thought for the children who will have to survive as their families hit the breadline. But it must be ok as it will stop others from thinking of having more than two children.

"Do the government have a stance on Stephen Seddon who was convicted of murdering his parents for a 250k inheritance a couple of weeks ago? Does anyone? I certainly can't remember seeing endless threads about it Quite. He failed the first time so just had another go. All because they decided he should finally stand on his own two feet. or the successful man who killed his wife and daughter and shot all their horses before burning his house down. maybe his astute business skills were to blame" both the above and the Philpot case were 'planned' by the perpetrators, dont think that Philpot intended to kill his children whereas the other two had murder in mind from the get go.. all are equally deplorable and vile acts.. all deserve (where applicable)the full penalty the law applies.. none should be used by anyone certainly in positions of power or influence to justify further attacks on the most needy in society or to influence future policy.. bet one will though..

Can you back that up I think you already know I can. How Wouldnt be from an atical in the Daily Mail by any chance would it????" The Daily Mail bashing is boring a d used to deflect any serious debate on this forum How many hypocrites on this forum have used the deaths of these children to further a political point !!!!

"Using the death of six children as a way of presenting benefit cuts as a good thing is heinous, even for Osborne." That's not what Osbourne said at all though is it. He said that a debate needs to be had about people LIKE Philpott who have umpteen children as a means to obtaining more and more benefits, although it is a bit of an own goal considering he's just capped benefits at £26k so it's a moot point really.

"What a lot of bollocks some people spout! Limit the number of children people have!! Let the children starve by not paying for them!! What next? Force men to have the snip if they lose their job? Neuture women if they lose theirs? I thought we lived in a democracy, not some middle eastern country. Sure, you get people who take advantage of the system, but there are a LOT more genuine people out there. But hey ho, lets tar EVERYBODY on benefits with the same brush just to make sure we get the FEW!! "

No. I did put the link in for people to have a look for themselves but it seems easier to just ignore the actual inter_iew to suit.

"Dont know how much it costs to run our wellfare system in the uk, but these stats seem pretty low to me in comparison 200 families claiming housing benefit have 10 or more children as taxpayers face £150million bill for 'benefit broods' At least 40,000 families with five or more children are getting extra payouts The total handouts to these parents come to £350million a year " Well do the maths of 40 000 families on £26 0000 if that is all they where to get and you are talking silly money. There is also about 300 000 families who have never worked and claiming huge benefits. imagine what that would do for the deficit if they worked there would not be one.

I saw a program the other night on people in poverty but they all had designer cloths and big tv's and PlayStation and holidays but can't afford food so really we are not talking about letting kids stave with this kind of money. But the country has no money how can we afford it people need to get in the real world

That figure is only the cap regarding those families in huge houses requiring huge rents. Which the gov has capped at £500 per week! Not the joe bloggs down the street who gets £53 a week to live on!
