I don't know I just grew up with a brother who used to sabotage everything, so paranoia makes me rinse cups etc before I drink anything from the cupboard (even if I'm the one who washed the cup and nobody else has been near it since)

In the days of old with lead pipes it was necessary - less so now unless you're worried about legionella.

So for me turn on tap fill glass drink - unless I've been away for a few days then I'll let it run for a minute
