"Yes. Used to get them through the mobile library van that visited every week. • Mr. Bites, you were in prison?? ![]() Just how we rolled. The library board had multiple vehicles that stopped off in all the housing estates for a couple of hours every week. 2-4 on a Tuesday for us so just made it home from school in time ![]()

I agree, Nicky Cruz was a hero - gangs in NY in 60s seemed horrendous. People on here are fascinating with such varied lived experiences.

"As a kid, adored Asterix. As a young adult, made a best friend who also adored it. The humour was so clever - the woman who translated from the French to English added so much because a lot would have been lost in translation, but she kept Goscinny and Uderzo's humour and changed some character names brilliantly (I think Getafix the druggy druid, Dogmatix, and Chief Vitalstatistix were all from her mind, as the name meanings got lost in direct translation). " • Thank you for this edification, my dear squire. ![]()

"No. I struggled with reading yet also I struggled/didn't like following the bouncing about order of anything presented in comic book form. Although my mate was a big fan and I did like looking through the illustrations in his Asterix books and the cartoon series on TV. It ticked my intrest in Historical theme's. When I was a kid my favourite books were map books. I could read and understand maps clear as day and they are logical. I found a lot of joy in route planning and discovering all the awesome places out there to explore (especially before the internet was an everyday resource). Odd kid I know. Mr" • Not odd at all. I love map books and everything related to cartography. ![]()
