"I should. I have really bad tinnitus." Same. Too much clubbing in my yout', followed by a couple of summers in a tin box behind the stage at creamfields with no earplugs. Also, I last had my hearing checked at around 18 and I was told I have "the hearing of a 40 year old", I'm now 30, so imma need a hearing aid soon. I've also been offered dentures when I get my sore teeth pulled. And I walk with a stick. I'm basically 98  | |||

"I should. I have really bad tinnitus." Go for it, I find it really helps. I should have worn aids since my esrly 20s but couldn't get on with the nhs ones so decided at 40 to pay for in ear ones. On my second lot now and was well worth the investment. | |||

I actually find it pretty funny when people tell me to "hop along" on my crutches, and it hasn't yet got old when people say "pardon?" when I mention I can't hear shit without subtitles, and people should have them scrolling above their heads at all times. If I'm in a busy and noisy place I usually stay quiet" I really struggle with processing when it's noisy too. I bought myself some loops and tried them out at the UtB social last weekend. It wasn't an epiphany but it made enough difference that I could keep up with conversations and felt more confident being able to contribute rather than just nodding and smiling like I used to do. "I don't wear a hearing aid as I think (don't remember, I was too young then) my parents got told a hearing aid would not be beneficial for me, due to the nature of my hearing loss. I am partially deaf, in my left ear, but as I lost my hearing early on, my right ear makes up for it. I do struggle if there's plenty of background noise but most of my work colleagues don't even realise that I can't hear with my left ear. I may need to get my hearing tested soon and see if the change in technology could do anything to help me. " I was told years ago by a specialist that due to the type of hearing loss I had (that of someone in their 80's) they couldn't do anything. Tech has advanced and I've now got tiny aids and they work fantastically at reducing background noises and tinnitus so I hear hear speech more clearly. They even 'know' the environment I'm in and like a mixing deck, automatically tune in to the sounds I need to hear. I found them exhausting at first - suddenly being subjected to all the sounds I never used to hear. They're brilliant though. Go get yourself reassessed. C x | |||

Ths nhs does ones with Bluetooth that you can link to your phone and virtually invisible in ear ones sre available privately. Hearing better makes life so much easier. " What is it about a hearing aid that makes tinnitus better? I tried those masking devices but they didn’t work for me, I just found that with or without them in crowd environments my tinnitus escalates and I can’t hear what people are saying to me. My actual damage isn’t on the severe end fortunately but do they help with clarity? Do you get much feedback noise from them? | |||

They are very impressive and his even connect to Bluetooth so he can connect to his phone or the TV. | |||

The tinnitus aspect is it doesn't get rid of it wearing aids but the brain is busy processing all the other sounds it's now getting that it gets distracted from it, so you don't notice it as much. | |||
