H - home

When the liners used to go from England to India the more expensive cabins were on the side of the boat away from the equator as they were thought to be cooler. So on the left side going out or port side and right side coming back or starboard

To afford these you were posh

But, as you go round the Cape of Good Hope, the port side is towards the equator and the sun is streaming in through the porthole.

The Suez canal didn't open until 1869 and P&O were sailing to India from the 1840s.

The POSH etymology is considered a myth.

I like Viking words like slaughter, die, knife and troll and um cake and crochet.
