Anybody got an ottoman storage bed?

As above if so are there any negatives in having one? It seems like a good idea but you still need some organisational boxes underneath like we’ve got at the moment, it would appear good to be able to see each box without having to take them all out?

We have one, it's very good. We've never felt the need for boxes though.

I regret not getting one. There is space under your bed that otherwise would go waste. A great place to keep your spare sheets and pillows covers. A little bit more expensive and makes the whole thing heavier. But I think it's worth it.

They come ready for attachments out of the box, which can be stored conveniently underneath.

We have one, it's very good. We've never felt the need for boxes though.

Thanks I guess it depends what you’re storing, at the moment we use plastic boxes which slide under the bed, but if we had an ottoman think we’d still have the need to keep things in containers, for dust & organisation purposes.

We got the hemnes day bed from ikea for our spare room. Converts from single to double and has drawers underneath too. So much room and the drawers are fairly large too

I have one and yes it’s the mattress that lifts up.

My advice is buy a decent one with good pneumatic hinges as lifting the weight of the mattress can over time bend the hinges if they are not strong enough

Mine is very heavy to lift, at King size but a godsend for extra storage.

Only real downside for me, both of us being tall, is we didn't take in to account of how low to the ground they can be which is quite problematic for us. Wish I'd done more research

My mattress and the base tops can lift up together, although

That does make for a heavy lift, which is not ideal with my back and hips...

They great, you can store lots underneath especially if you use the vacuum bags mentioned. Habitat have one with secret shelves behind the headboard too for those sex toys/lubes/etc that you need easy access to

Just be careful lifting one with gas filled hinges..... they can come up pretty quick and catch you under the chin!!!! It bloody hurts

They're a pain in the arse.

I was given an ottoman Base when I moved darn sarf. Couldn't refuse it as I didn't have a bed, but got rid after 3 months.

When I got married, the ex wanted one. I caved.

I was glad she took it with her when she left.

Now, it's continental drawer divans all the way.

The ones with the half drawer at the head end so you don't have to keep moving the bedside cabinets. Good for pillow cases and raunchy stuff. easy to grab hold of....

Becarefull not to over pack.you do have to reach for items at the back buy you can get bothsides.Less chance of a visitor looking through things you'd rather keep private.

Ours the steel frame the mattress sits on lifts up

So you don’t have to remake the bed

Just lift , chuck stuff under and then push it back down

Yes my last lady friend had one that you could raise and get at the stuff quite easily
