One word replies...

Is it a sense of entitlement, a lack of education or just laziness?

I'm always happy to get a reply or to reply to messages but what are we supposed to work with when people have a one sentence or less profile, then communicate with one word messages?

I appreciate people are busy but still...

For me a one word reply or a few in a row shows lack of interest

I do understand that some people don’t like to be left or lead people on “read” but I take it as in they don’t want to talk but are too polite to say

The only time I reply to one word message is when it says "hey" and say "ho" and I hope they have a sense of humour (the answer is, no, men folk or the ones that message me don't).

Sometimes when I get a message in relation to a forum post in the form of a joke, I'll say lol as I am not keen on chatting to people that never post on the forum and only lurk and privately message me instead.

If we receive a Hi” message and nothing else then I reply with a “hi” back.

We have had one decent message in over six months.

People (men) seem to not be skilled in communicating with couples imho.

And “Nice tits” is also a nagging message.

But hey go it’s fab and thankfully doesn’t happen here as much.

I think getting a one word reply ( assuming a proper message was sent ) is likely to be entitlement . Even " no thanks " is two words . If the sender was lazy they would not bother answering at all .If the sender was uneducated I doubt that would have mattered since she or they must have had a profile that appealed to you OP in the first place .

If I'm bored with some time to kill I'll just play the one word game back and forth see how long it takes them to get fed up of receiving what they give.

Otherwise I'll reply once then not again if it's another one word.

You're damned if you do reply and damned if you don't.

I assume a one word response means no thanks.

If just assume they're not really interested if I get one word answers, so I stop chatting to them.

If we can't chat well here, it doesn't bode well for a real life meet.

Inside your walls

We give back what people put in.

If someone messages one word they will get the same energy back

Carlisle usually

If the one word covers everything to say in response to the message. They get one word.

Why pad it out of you're not interested enough to engage properly?

"Is it a sense of entitlement, a lack of education or just laziness?"

No, it's not a "sense", it's a case that they are not interested. If someone is interested you will know.

The only one word replies I ever put are No.

It’s a complete sentence and doesn’t require a response

maybe it's to get you to look at their profile, prehaps it's someone just testing to see if your interested.

most of the times I will reply sometime not straight away depends where I am and what I'm doing. I'm not a wordsmith sometimes its short and straight to the point "Hi" back them

I think the shorter the answer, the less interest from the other person in either the conversation or the person .. Unless its a sassy, bratty reply - then you are definitely in!
