I’m like Marmite you either do or you don’t unfortunately most don’t. But I’ve never been flatly told I’m UGLY as such, so low self esteem will always play a part and a lack of experiences in some departments will often make people think twice about something.

But if someone say looks don’t matter at all I would have to disagree, if there is attraction physically your just not going to go and introduce yourself are you.

Some may disagree but this is my opinion.

I am me and I will always be I can’t change the way I look to you and the only changes to myself I will make are the ones I want to.

Personally I think I'm pretty. Sometimes I feel really hot and sexy. Other times I feel ageless, beautiful and I'm so grateful for that.

I'm fat.

People hate that I can be both pretty AND fat. That I can be confident that I don't hide in shapeless clothes or shadows. People will always try and bring me down.

I gave up caring what people thought about me. The right people will see what I do and they also appreciate that I am more than my face and body.

Yes, I look like my mother and while obviously I love her to death she isn't a looker and I can see a lot of myself on her, I have my dad's nose that is a bit pointy and has a little bump in it that I hate, I can't smile without looking like I am smelling something awful, my teeth at the top are crooked, one of my eyes is vastly different to the other, sometimes I look at selfies of myself and see my make up and think to myself "I could be mistaken for a dude"; so in conclusion, I never look at myself and thing "damn".

I don’t think I could fully explain the psychology of it, but I think what an individual sees in the mirror is different to the whole of what another person sees.

Even with the camera phone/selfies etc, that detachment between the two exists and throwing in a hackneyed phrase ‘perceptible is reality’.

Were constrained by society and media and representations of what is and isn’t attractive and even though that might go against what you see in a person’s appearance, the perception or expectation or assumption is made with people that don’t fit into the existing bias.

It changes around culture and fashion but some parts of it are almost primal in terms of height/presence, big boobs, long legs, blonde hair.

If you feel you don’t fit all the different biases and criteria that are out there online or in groups of people and see that others do, it’s easy to not like what you see.

There’s only so much we can change, hair colour, maybe loose weight, but you can be taller, smaller or change how some things look.

For me, I see someone older and greyer than how I feel and I don’t particularly like the mirror or how I appear in pictures. I wouldn’t say I’m particular down on myself over it. I am what I am, but I certainly know from sending face pics, that I’m not necessarily what women are looking for.
