Gig ear plugs

I just know someone here will know

So here goes

I bought some Zound ear plugs

Supposed to be purpose made for noise reduction at gigs

Used them

Everything just sounds muffled

What do you recommend fabsters?

Get custom moulded ones to your ears I got some through my job and they are they best

You should look at the dba reduction rating of your hearing protection as this varies quite considerably. The thing about PPE is is that it is personal so what works for one person may not necessarily work for you. I would just trial a few different types out until you find the ones that are most comfy for you and cancel out the noise you want to get rid of.

A little common sense needed here one thinks.

People wear ear plugs to protect their hearing. I do and have done since my 40s.

Why, because my ears are shot from listening to loud music for the first 40 years of my life!!!

I'd rather not be more deaf thanks.

The struggle is very real.

But please do listen to loud music every day with out protection and enjoy being deaf when you get older!!

I knew someone who killed themselves from having tinnitus. I have it too - it’s horrible.

Personally, I can’t believe that, in these H&S conscious times (not a bad thing in many ways), venues/promoters/artists get away with the volumes and terrible sound quality you often hear.

I use Alpine plugs. Fine once you’re used to it - I won’t go to a gig, or play music with others without them. I’d give the ones you have a decent chance.

Oddly “Bluetac” works well … as a sound barrier if you do not have ear defenders, I have used this in an industrial contexts plus sea swimming.

It moulds to the shape of your ear but I have never used it for a gigs

Ex military so what's left of my hearing probably isn't worth saving.

I have seen some of these things like loop ear plugs etc. But never tried them.

And yes I'm the sort of mad fool who was stood 2 rows from the stage recently at pink, nickelback and this coming Tuesday hopefully at the foo fighters in Cardiff

I use Loop. You can buy three different level of decibel reduction or one with a switch that does all three. They work a treat

I have 2 pairs of Loop earplugs, one for sleeping and one for loud/social/outdoor type situations (I cant remember the proper name for them) but they are really good and very comfortable as well

Another for loop. Use them nearly everyday. Sleeping, work (factory engineering), gigs, loud pubs.

Struggle to concentrate in large groups of conversation and noise.

There's three

Engage - good for noisy environments and you can still hear conversation. I use them in the pub

Experience - good for gigs and concerts

Quiet - sleep

It's all layed out and explained very well on the Loop website
