I’m just rubbish at dating and get socially “tired” quickly. I am best in short bursts (!). If I was actively dating I think it’d be disingenuous as, after many years alone, I just don’t have it in me to be a life partner for someone and I don’t want them to think that could change (at my dating age, time is a precious commodity).

Sexual compatibility in my humble opinion are one of those key things that few are willing to compromise on and can tank a relationship. However, discussing sex on dating sites seems to give the impression that I’m only looking for sex, which annoys me to no end. There doesn’t seem to be many on dating sites looking for a relationship either so why bother? I can navigate fab, know how it works, what to expect and so the bullshit is less.

I read that, it was very apt. Dating apps are all just about what's round the next corner. This guy's good, but maybe the next one's better. I've been on so many dates I can't even remember them. Given up now, and on here. I'm 51, can't get a date, blood pressure medication and probably prostate issues and nothing's working anyway so it's just as well.

I prefer fab, as I like to see events/socials.

Easier to explain on here that I like 1 on 1's and 1 and multiples. I found explaining that in vanilla life gets totally misunderstood.

It's still bloody hard work on here finding someone that matches what I'm looking for in a fwb and/or a relationship.

My experience on fab has been meeting people for a coffee or at a social event and then having casual sex. For me this usually means on a relatively ongoing basis because I don't look for one nighters.

I also enjoy dates that don't involve sex necessarily so I like to meet people who are up for going out for a nice meal or a walk or to the cinema. In fact where I live it's not unusual to have swimming dates as we live by the sea.

A bit of romance is nice sometimes and it's something I like to have in my life. It doesn't have to involve commitment or exclusivity and I've met enough people who feel the same that I've added it to my profile on fab too.

So, as another poster suggested, it isn't just fucking.

I get what you're saying, dating should be dedicated to one person at one time. Unfortunately, less people seem to think that way. Possibly due to online platforms making it easier to "keep options open".

But what I was actually getting at is the fact that lots of people on dating sites are looking for NSA and hook ups. So what is the difference between fab and dating sites in that respect for the people that use them that way.

I can't imagine why dating should be dedicated to one person at a time if there are people who obviously enjoy dating more than one person at a time.

It's not like the world is divided into casual sex and potential life long commitment. There's a whole spectrum of possibilities and combinations and it feels very limiting to arbitrarily say dating should be a monogamous activity.

Consenting adults and communication is all it takes to enjoy a whole plethora of activities that can add to a great a sexual relationship and not demand exclusivity.

Perhaps it's just a different definition if dating and that's where the problem is.

Dating sites for both of us individually has been a case of women showing interest then ghosting.

We thought this would be better to just talk and meet people as apposed to dating, however we get the exact same thing on here as well. Women saying they want to meet for a drink and then stop replying.

So fecking frustrating.

I think my "infrequent poly" or "occasional fwb" needs could be met by a dating site, but there's so much shit to get through before you uncover the intelligent and humorous pervert within (the other person).

Plus, restaurants and bars do bore me a lot, and you have to go through a lot of explaining.

I get more interaction (that is closer to my needs) from a FAB profile that's quite clear, and letting people see who/what I am on threads.

If they're intrigued enough that turns into conversations, and if they're not, then neither of us has invested time in the other.

For my needs, FAB is just more efficient.

And I can go a bit crazy on the threads, which is fun (for me, at least
