Hello gents, as a man rocking a beard I'm always looking to try new oils, butters and washes trying to find new scents and some new favourite products for taming my grizzly... what products do you guys use and do you have any favourites, what's your grooming routine?

Yeah I used to use this natural chemical free gentle bar for everything but they stopped making it but I'd like to go back to doing that again as you said there's nasty chemicals in pretty much everything... chemicals in shampoo that is known to make hair fall out but don't worry because the same company make a special serum that will strengthen your hair also filled with more chemicals.

I do need something for the beard though as after a certain length it gets all dry and brittle

Nothing really, if I’m eating a sticky bun there’s a fair chance there’ll be some icing being rubbed in and I don’t seem to be able to eat baked beans without getting the sauce in my beard, but that’s about it.

Doesn't it get all dry and brittle and knotted up if you just leave it? Mines gets that way if I dont take care of it, I'm talking about a full beard here not just a bit of long stubble

I've messed around with all sorts over the years, a lot of it is pretty much the same but I have a couple of faves:

If you want a beard oil for a soft shiny beard you really can't beat Morroccanoil, it feels lush and looks great after rubbing a drop of that in and combing it through.

It's expensive though so most days I'll just use some coconut oil before I blow dry!

Beard balm, I don't think you can beat Honest Amish. It's quite soft and applys nicely (some brands can be a bit sticky or waxy) and gives a nice shine, only has a light hold but I've always found it enough when I don't have a full ZZ Top beard.

I also use a beard butter sometimes, from a company called "Rune Silk". It softens and conditions, but most importantly has a really nice lavender scent which relaxes the hell out of me when I use it at bedtime.

I keep mine short enough to not need any special care. I wash my face. That’s enough.

(Okay, I do have some nice Tom Ford beard oil for special occasions.)

I researched a lot into bread oils and grooming when I was growing my yeard ( going a beard for a year) mine grew to 8 inches.

I use a company called seven potions. Oil, balm , wax and shampoo. Once I found it I’ve not looked back. Woodland harmony is the scent I go for. Can get on Amazon. Check out Dan C bearded on YouTube.

So I’ve tried all ya standard beard products from the local supermarket. The likes of bulldog or Gillette king and L’Oréal etc etc. Then one day I was introduced to the beard struggle. I looked on their site for a shampoo a conditioner, beard oil and balm. Expensive compared to the supermarket offerings and I can’t even begin to tell you how disappointed I was!! Disappointed because it was that good I could literally never user anything else now. When you apply a good product wow the difference is noticeable. A good wash and blow dry. Followed up with some oil and a beard balm and you’ve never had a softer fuller beard. Please don’t use the beard struggle products. Cos if you do like me, you ain’t using any others again.

Yeah I've noticed that the typical products you get off the shelves are no good, full of crap and bad for your beard, I started getting from smaller more local online companies and will continue to do so

Growing as much as I can for the Valhalla festival at the end of July. I'm going to braid an extension in if it's long enough for the weekends dressing up. When it goes through the itchy stage I use the Argan oil from Mrs dresser. L'Oréal expert beard oil smells a bit lush.

Will trim it back again in August as I just hate getting toast crumbs stuck in it

I suffer a fair bit from dry skin so regular washing with anti-dandruff shampoos (alternating nizoral and H&S with argan oil). And to keep it soft I use a blend of tea tree, peppermint and rosemary oil.
