To the Dads who never got to be the Dads they wanted to be.

The Dads who lost their children before they got a chance to really be a Dad.

The Dads who were r0bbed by fate, circumstance or illness and never got to see their children flourish, fail, succeed, fall in and out of love, to live their lives.

The Dads who never got to see their children be parents themselves.

The Dads who are reminded of there loss. Every. Single. Fathers. Day.

For you......

Near Clacton

I am a dad, but the only message I got today was from an acquaintance who knew I'd be hurting and knew my only child has moved half way around the world and forgot his roots.

If it’s any consolation OP, I don’t think that anyone who was meant to be a parent loses out on that because they never got the chance to have children (I’m included in this)

The mother hen of the friend group or the work dad are so important.

My dad has four daughters but is only a dad to his one son. I’ve had lots of father figures in my life and all of them deserve a happy Father’s Day

My child's dad had an active choice to opt in from conception. He chose to opt out. His family have a cracking relationship with her... He has a difficult relationship with them. We all make our own choices

"My child's dad had an active choice to opt in from conception. He chose to opt out. His family have a cracking relationship with her... He has a difficult relationship with them. We all make our own choices "

This is quite insensitive without knowing OP’s circumstances. He wasn’t talking about men who choose not to be involved in their kids’ lives

Is it? I was just stating my personal thoughts on an open thread that I'd browsed through?

OP, I'm really sorry, if my comment was triggering, or upsetting

Your personal thoughts are irrelevant to the thread. The thread is not about fathers who chose to be absent. Exactly the opposite, which should be clear from the thread title and opening post.

That’s such a lovely, well said and well worded message to us all, thank you OP, I feel that for sure today… reminiscing over things that have happened in the past.

Some things aren't meant to be

Being a Dad was one of those for me

Shame really, cos I'd have been a bloody good one

I had a very good teacher in my own Dad

My life has been full and it has been lived

It would have been nice to just have that little cherry to top the cake

Yes, the context is all laid out in the first comment. Your comment about us all making our own choices was, in that sense, really insensitive. The context was about men who have not had the chance to have kids or who have lost children. Not for people who have walked away from their children.

Indeed.

I'd have thought "To the Dads who never got to be the Dads they wanted to be...." was pretty clear.
