In my time swinging meet some lovely people and some who come across as fictional character who lived in there own fantasy world but really are elaborate liars. Some can change with every person thay meet . Maybe just a front as swinging thay don't wish you to know the real person .You go with your gut feelings when you don't know people and when thay let you down .. its a shock. You good at reading people.

I have discovered my intuition is very good......I can usuallytell after the first conversation if someone is not being truthful about something. But then I am in sales, it is my job to get to the truth, by asking questions the other person doesn't even know they are answering....

Occassionally someone slips under the radar and I am even more gutted when that happens..

I can pretty much sniff out bullshitters. My bullshit radar is well-tuned, though not infallible.

we think we are good judges of characters..but in truth the people who slip under the radar are usually very good at doing it. Don;t berate yourself too much for it, just try to make sure you don't make the same mistake again....

I don't think anyone slips through the radar...sometimes we take a chance, sometimes it pays off and you meet someone really special, sometimes it goes tits up...either way I enjoy getting ready for a meet, the excitement...the antisipation......

I don't think i've had a meet that did'nt turn me on in some way....

It is very tempting to adopt a persona for a one off meet, lets face it we all have many aspects to create our day to day character. I seldom behave the same way at work to when I am on holiday and almost never the same as when we are in a swinging club so it's quite easy to bring one of those aspects to the front for a single meet.

If there are to be subsequent meets then more of the real people come forward.

At the time I'm annoyed but I'd rather be let down from time to time than not let anyone new in my life, people will let you down

A lot of people seem to be fantasists on here. I find clubs are usually better because if you have the nerve to go through the door your half way there.

Hmmm J is more consistent than I am, perhaps it's a life of changes that causes it, one day I could be in a board meeting with CEO's etc, then next under the suspended floor with half a dozen squadies tracing cables. The same persona just wouldn't work Even now as a semi-retired person I have my sawdust covered workshop to play in, and then put on a suit and tie for a meeting with customers or retail outlets. Latest project is a book and the number of different people you have to interact with to get published is staggering.

lol definitely me, tall stories require an organised mind and good memory, I don't have either of those things

Though I do notice a difference in vocabulary depending on my clothing.

As a complete guess I would say J can be assessed by the second or third meet with only peripheral parts of her character unknown, where I would need to meet quite often and in different circumstances for me to be fully revealed.

Still me, but come to my workshop and there is dirty clothes, glue covered fingers and when the chisel or band saw slips some words that would never be heard elsewhere that persona has never been to a club

dont think you should realy trust anyone on the internet how ever nice they seem because you dont know them.

my sister comes across as one of the sweetest nicest person you could wish to meet, where as i am quiet and people could say not as nice.

you dont know a person until you live with them though and people who know my sister properly would be quite surprised at what she is realy like.

It's a shame when people who you thought were totally genuine slip up and forget something they've told you previously and put a total different spin on a subject matter and give you an opposite answer.. Always make me think what other porkies are they saying.. Hence why meeting with them stops..

Some might say a bit harsh... Tough!!

Jo - never take anyone at face value in this world. It's a very sad thing to say, but I assume people are blaggers, liars - call it what you will - until proved otherwise. It's like anything else - the longer you do it, the more wise you become. But it's not wisdom. Just the result of making mistakes, getting burned and - hopefully - learning from those mistakes and not making them again... Also helps - and it is one thing for which I will be eternally grateful - if you have one or two good mentors when you start out in this world. I was lucky. Not everyone is.....

Not harden up. Learn and file away each experience - good and/or bad - and next time something similar pops up, you'll spot it before it has chance to hurt you.
