Portsmouth

Off to Salisbury for the day soon... What is there to do for a couple of people and a doggo in tow.

We'd like a short walk or 2 and somewhere comfy to sit, chat, drink coffee and maybe play a board game.

We did the cathedral last time, so don't really need to see it again.

I have looked on Google maps but I thought people might have some good suggestions.

The market is always worth a trip to see or you could take a walk over the meadows towards Harnham to the south of Salisbury.

I wouldn't bother with stone henge although you can see it from the a303 so worth a drive past

Depends what you're interested in... there's the army flying museum in the wallops somewhere...I seem to recall they have a cafe overlooking the airfield for somewhere different.

I don't know anything about sightseeing in Salisbury, but I can tell you that the cathedral has had the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom, at 404 feet (123 m)

We'll be in the town centre, I'm not bothered about a bunch of stones either lol

The walk through the park and up to sub castle is okay if you want to wear the dog out - park on the opposite side of Salisbury to where you come in from Southampton

Someone else has already mentioned it but out the back of Salisbury past the railway station to harnham mill (nice pub that used to do really good food)

Shopping in general and just wandering around the town is quite pleasant and you can do worse than parking yourself next to the river near the bishops mill

Thanks, we did see the river on our way out of town, so it's definitely on the list of things to go look at.

Medieval hall

Arundells medieval house £10 - closed Wed & tours Tues £13

Clock Tower

St Thomas Church

Fiskerton Mill cafe & arts centre

Watermeadows and riverside

Cotswold Outdoor - upstairs has some of the original wattle and daub, roof timbers and structure and windows from the 1400s.
