6 months since I changed my diet

somewhere

Morning, just did my usual weigh in on a Monday and just checked the date I did my first weigh in and it's 6 months since I started, I've lost 32lbs since I begun.

I've never stuck to anything like this before and I haven't really changed what I am eating dramatically, just smaller portions, weighing everything, doing more physical things, walking more.

The changes in my face is the most noticeable thing, although one of my work colleagues said "you've lost even more weight" the other day to me which was nice and then said "up there" and pointed to my chest (which I really don't wanna lose lol).

I'm using my fitness pal to track my calories and I think because I'm not saying "I'm on a diet" and saying "I've changed my diet" has really helped me mentally and also the motivation to lose my fat belly as someone so kindly pointed out to me once, mind you if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't hopefully be adding a few more years to my life, so I'm thankful for that but still a bit "well that was rude" about it lol.

I'm cheering for you. Thanks for the positivity.

Good work op. I like that you feel you’re not on a diet, just making heathly choice that will extend your life. That’s the mindset to sustain it. More pics of your sexy face in glasses pls

I'm really pleased for you well done. Keep it up.

Interesting your comment about your "rude" friend who pointed out your fat belly... If more people did that more often it might kick more of us into action to save our own lives. I have a friend whose uncle told them a similar thing at a family gathering. They rowed and fell out but she immediately changed her life, lost a load of weight over time and is happy for the intervention.

My dad has been quite vocal over the years about my weight (he is a very complex man and thinks nothing of eating just a few biscuits a day to keep his weight down) but it never gave me the motivation, this "friends" words did. I don't wanna be a novelty act anymore, I don't wanna be that fat friend anymore, I want to be able to buy clothes that hasn't got a stupid logo on anymore or be restricted to the back of the shop.

I always thought I was happy as I was but I look at pictures of myself just from a year ago and I am so glad I have changed my diet, the small changes already has had a massive impact on me, I'm more energetic now for a start, think nothing of walking somewhere now, my mind mentally is clearer and not to mention other things that have changed inside my body (no one ever talks about those!).

St Leonards

Once you've lost the weight/got healthy, one of the biggest obstacles will be how others react to the "newer you", and how you react too.

Complex dynamics change - sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's obvious.

My ex-wife couldn't cope with me losing weight in 2008, and set up a "you've let me down I'm going to be really difficult and force you into submission or we'll separate" mental game. Beneath the surface, but obvious once you looked into it.

So, separation it was. Gladly at that point from my perspective.

Be aware of the psychological side - obesity is rarely a physical issue.

It just looks like it on the surface.

Absolutely, I was talking to a friend the other day, who had surgery and she looks absolutely amazing but she said almost exactly the same, her mind catching up with her body.

It's a rocky road for a lot of people who go through it.

Not everyone, but don't beat yourself up in the rocky moments if they happen xx
