Carlisle usually

Holidaying alone is the best.

Just a shame you don't benefit from the discounts afforded by sharing rooms and such.

" Right you singletons holidaying alone yes or no and why ? "

It is a YES from me. I do it atleast on e a year. So nice to be on your own pace, no need to compromise on room temperature, time on the beach or choice of restaurant/bar/club to go.

Yes...

I often just pick up a BnB for a couple of nights if in UK or Europe and it's a destination I'm familiar with.

For more long distance trips or areas I'm not familiar with I'll travel alone but join a group tour. Have met some wonderful people over the years doing this.

I holidayed solo last year in Turkey (Fethiye)

Enjoyed the peace and quiet but staying on a family resort, there wasn't much to do during the evening

Probably European weekend trips would suit me better. Wouldn't mind a sneaky weekend trip with a significant other...

You don't have to be single to holiday alone.

I went to Poland by myself last year for a few days. It was great - I really enjoyed doing exactly what I wanted and not having to think about anyone else.

I can't afford to do it this year but hopefully next year I'll have a couple of days to myself again.

Yes, I've done it a lot and have a holiday in Wales coming up in a couple of weeks. I'll be meeting up with people I know in the area, but mostly I'll be on my tod. I spend a lot of time having to think about other people's needs, so it's a luxury to only have to consider me myself and I, and have a bit of peace and quiet.

In the past I've joined in with group holidays, so I'd go on my own but still meet other people, it's a nice compromise.

Yeah, completely agree, the costs of being single/alone are real!

Worth it thought.

Love it and holidayed alone when in a rship. Have done for years in 6 continents. There was one country in Africa I thought I should travel in a group but other than that I like my own space. I like to meet people as I go but no pressures. I also like my own itineraries *as much as I ever plan for anything that is.

I usually have 2 solo holidays a year.

I love the freedom and no ties to anyone.

At times it can be lonely, but that doesn't last long.

Yes, a definite yes.

Even if I was in a relationship I’d still want to have a break away on my own. Go where you like, when and decide what to do when you arrive.

Hi Zuri, how's it going.

You pretty much described perfectly the joys of going solo.

I've been all over the world and have had the very best life experiences by simply landing in a continent and chucking a right/left with absolutely no planned itinerary.

I know it sounds corny, but it's good for your soul.

When I was single, I was more than happy to go on holidays on my own. You get to be your own boss, choose where you want to go and what you want to do. And if you don't feel like doing everything you planned to do, there is nobody making you do it. Yes, you have to pay for everything yourself, but that's not an issue for me.

Nowadays, I like the comfort of my partner driving . Luckily, I still get to be "the boss" as organising things is not his strong point.

Go for it OP!

my attitude is, if it meant I couldn't go on holiday unless I had someone to go with, then a hols on my own it is then!

I've done a few European holidays, hired a car and toured around. The freedom, like others have mentioned is wonderful. It's so easy to book a flight and checkout the booking sites for accommodation! But I will admit it can also get a bit lonely as well.

It’s a yes from me.

Usually just a night or two camping in the UK but took myself off to the canaries at the start of the year and had the best time because I could just do what I wanted when I wanted. Stayed in a hostel so I could socialise if I so wished, and had Wi-Fi to work from. What’s not to like!

Wherever I lay my hat

Regularly since becoming single. Heading off again next week for another three months with just me and my backpack. I love the freedom to do exactly what I want, when I want and to change my plans on a whim. No arguments, no tension, no compromises. Love it!

I'm just back from my first solo holiday - a fabulous week in Crete.

I wasn't sure how I'd get on, but it was really great - just pleased myself what / where and when.

I didn't feel lonely or awkward, eating / drinking out on my own and I felt perfectly safe.

I'm already looking for my next solo adventure.

Southampton/isle of wight/ everywhere

Yes from me, and even when I was married, wife and I used to take at least a week each year for a holiday alone, just to completely decompress from family life, live on our own terms for a few days. Frankly I think it was the best thing for our marriage and without it, we would probably have split many years before we did!
