I get to go first though

Why won’t my chainsaw work? I have mixed the right combination of fuel & oil in the special bottle and put it in the special little hole. I have pumped the primer four times until it’s full of juice. I have switched it on, pulled the ch*ke out, pulled the starter three times, pushed the ch*ke halfway in and pulled the starter again, Fires up for one second and then dies… does this every single time I repeat this sequence.

If the chainsaw's cold it's difficult to get going.

I used to bring mine into the house overnight to keep it warm.

Try checking the jets in the carb. You may need to blow them out with an airline. They should just unscrew.

Chainsaws use the vacuum of the engine to pump the fuel. 90% of the time with petrol chainsaws that are not run frequently it will be the carburettor diaphragm that acts as a fuel pump, that has hardened / split or become gummed up with old residual oil. Order a repair kit or a complete replacement carb. Very rarely is it jets, plug, spark, air filter, compression.
