With June marking the celebration of Pride and men’s mental health, please use this forum post as a place to feel safe and to speak out! I know as a fellow man it’s not easy, but as a community we have enough support between us to help one another! Also to celebrate everyone with the Pride community! So speak out and celebrate for the next month!

Brilliant thread OP

It's ok to not have the answer, it's ok to feel overwhelmed and vulnerable, regardless of gender.

I find it really difficult to open up about issues, I think primarily because I was brought up to just deal with things as best I can… keep it in, suck it up etc…

I completely understand it's difficult moving from a generation that was told to get on with it and get out to work. My inbox is open to anyone who needs an ear

Since extricating myself from an abusive and toxic relationship, I am trying to be more open about how my head space is, but still find it hard to open up about my feelings. As a child, I was isolated and grew to rely on myself, as an adult, I was isolated, for different reasons, and had to rely on myself as I could not admit to anyone what was happening, after all, men are big strong brutes!!!!

My employer has seen a change in me, good and bad. They’ve noticed I am calmer and happier, but can also see that I am not hiding my bad days anymore. They’ve offered to find me someone to talk to, but I have had to explain that I could sit in a room all day and chat about the weather, cricket, what I am having for dinner, but I am too emotionally retarded to be able to talk about my feelings.

For those of you out there that have low days, bad days and sad days, you are not alone

Bella is completely right, it’s hard to move with the times, especially when it comes to being more vulnerable! This is a space for no judgement, just support of your want it! The world needs more people like Bella! I also am happy to help where I can

When In my case your father passed when you are 8, then have to deal with abuse from your sister towards your mum, stepping between arguments and getting smacked, not able to hit back as you know you could hurt someone, then sucking it all in and holding back the tears… that’s what I’ve had to been through from a young age, not as bad as some though.

The fact you have spoken out shows your strength! Even through the struggles! It dosent matter how bad the situation was or is, it’s how it affects you on a personal level. Going through something like that from a young age does affect you, and you can carry that for decades! Help is out there for everyone, if you want to talk, we are here

Sorry, you do realise that this not a community (no matter how many times someone says it is). This is the internet. It can sometimes create the illusion of closeness but it isn’t real. Talk to a real life person.

What about the people with crippling anxiety who struggle to open to people face to face? Regardless of this site is for swinging, many of us see it as a community, it doesn’t take physical presence to make a community.

Sometimes talking is not enough, no matter how well meaning people are. When you find yourself repeating the same thing over and over and no matter what others say, you struggle to change the view you have of your life and your future.

But thank you to those who try to help others

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. The boys don't cry belief is still going strong and it is still prevalent in young men. It is deeply destructive.

Sorry is that the same “community” where 80% of the men talk about being excluded from it.

I have struggled for many years . Found it even harder after leaving the military having served 23 yrs . I find it easy to talk about how I feel but actually dealing with the problems I would rather not . Just stick my head in the sand and just carry out .

I will take all the pain and misery so not a single person I care about will feel any pain . Unfortunately it does take it toll . I have dark days , I cry and contemplate life but I’m still here .

People think it’s easy to get help and then get better and it’s not . 4 yrs I have been on sertraline and not one time has the doctor contacted me to see how I am . Because they are happy just to let people function with out help . Sometimes you are that far in you need someone to help you out of it because I’m tired and have just given up .

That’s the harsh reality for me x x

This is a great thread. Thank you OP for starting it. I have suffered in the past with my mental heath. Fortunately I am doing so much better. Have had counselling and training so I can assist with others now that suffer with any form of trauma. Just as a support, I’m not a trained counsellor but having gone through issues myself, I can relate. My door is always open x

There are a lot of groups for men. I’ve seen on social media mostly Facebook about Andy’s man club. They are located in several areas. Oven not signed up to one but they do look decent.

I think thankfully it’s a lot more acceptable for men to reach out and get help. It’s taking that first step that’s always the hardest.

I've gone through some shit myself lately, thankfully I'm out the other side now.

If anyone just wants someone to listen or someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to drop me a DM.

Just happy to be there for someone when they're feeling low..
