Just when you think it can't get any worse !

When the pilot starts today , Government officials have been given licence to enter the homes of those refusing to declare spare bedrooms or pay for those declared and tape off the doors pending a full bricking up by Summer !

There are ways round this but it is time consuming and involves Brussels and pleading the legal Pesce d'Aprile! clause.

Blimey that's a bit intrusive, realistically local authorities and housing associations should know what stock they have, except for London who if my memory serves me correctly, forgot a whole street which got taken over by squatters who won the right to stay in their homes

I sussed it when I read "Pesce d'Aprile!" The French call it April Fish not Fool. Bit of a give away! LOL

"Take the bed out and make it into a dining room "

Why should people be allowed to have extra space? Fair enough if you've bought your property, but massively unfair on those who work hard but still live in cramped conditions.

PS: It's 1st April so what granny muncher said is a joke!!!

I just recognised Pesce as fish and remembered that the French celebrate April Fish - so put the two together!

And for my next trick I will show how 2+2=5.

No way - far too costly - where did you read that.

It's not a 'tax' anyway - it's common sense - why should the taxpayer pay for someone to live in a house that's massively too big for them?

Fine if there's some genuine reason like disability or some form of carer arrangement for a very vulnerable person but just in terms of someone who's hit the council lottery and ended up with a mansion instead of a flat then yes they should either move or pay more for the rooms they don't need or use
